The light

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus was teaching in the temple at the Feast of Tabernacles. One of the things celebrated at this feast was the light that God led the people in the wilderness by. The chandeliers in the women’s court would be lit all night and the people would dance.

When Jesus said He was the light of the world, He identifies himself with the light that led the people of Israel. Whilst the light of the chandileers was temporary He was offering permanence.

He used the words, ‘  I am’. God was know as the ‘great I am’. Jesus was giving His opponents fuel for their fire.

For us who come to Him, He is our light when we are surrounded by darkness. Yesterday, I troubled my mind about a planned trip to Denmark for a friends wedding. I thrashed about doing my sums wanting to be wise. When the peace of God came upon me and He spoke to my Spirit, all was well.

God knows He can put me anywhere and I’ll share with people the good news. He has a plan and I am excited to be a part of it. I will fly by myself to London via Dubai from Singapore. I always ask Him to seat me next to someone who needs to hear about Him and then look for an opportunity to speak.

We are light bringers. In a dark place torches are needed. I have an abundant supply of divine torches. Let your light shine!

My Father's House

After three days, they found Him in the temple complex sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all those who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. Luke 2:46,47 Jesus was 12. His parents had brought Him to Jerusalem for the festival but Jesus failed to return with them. When they finally found Him, after frantically searching for Him and had rebuked Him, He said, " didn't you know I had to be in My Father's house?" Jesus knew the importance of being in His Father's house and He was the Messiah, what does that mean to me? I love being in church. Yesterday my church hosted the feeding of 950 runners in my home town. I was there in the thick of it but could not wait to go to church and worship last night. Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with my Father's house, and this was when I was searching for Him. I did not find Him as my personal saviour until I was 19. Keep Watch

Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust. Proverbs 4:23‭-‬27 MSG https://bible.com/bible/97/pro.4.23-27.MSG Eyes straight! Jesus taught to keep our eyes on Him. When we drive down the road we must focus straight ahead. Myself, I tend to drive where I look and therefore cannot afford to look to the right or left. This is the same in life. There are times of extreme stress when we are surrounded by problems and drama. It is important, at such times, that we control our thoughts and focus on what is ahead. By focussing on Jesus we contain our thoughts in a zone that already is successful. This is also called walking by faith in the Son of God. We can trust Him! Amen!
