We Have a Father

What is man that You remember him, or the son of man that You care for him? You made him lower than the angels for a short time; You crowned him with glory and honour and subjected everything under his feet. Hebrews 2:5-8 The first sentence comes from Job. Job went on to say: 'you inspect him every morning and put him to the test every moment.' He was feeling God's scrutiny. We could approach this differently, laying aside Job's circumstances, as he was going through a trial. I see a father, looking over the side of a crib, lovingly examining every curve, every tiny hair, the colour of the skin, the eyes, watching his child breathe and loving the wonder of what He he created. God never takes us for granted. He lovingly, always is ardently in love with us, His children. The second part comes from Psalms 8:4 Jesus was momentarily made a little lower than the angels, for us. Our Father wanted us as well, His playrooms were devoid of His treasures. Jesus came to bring us ba...

True Salvation

We must, therefore, pay more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away. For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment, how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first spoken by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those heard Him. At the same time, God also testified by signs and wonders, various miracles, and distributions of gifts from the Holy Spirit according to His will. Hebrews 2:1-4 The message of salvation came to me, after an awareness of my sin. The joy of deliverance and salvation was so real. I was lifted up into a new place, a place of sonship. How could I spit in my Saviour's face and reduce all He gave me to something that fitted a less than life? How could I reduce His sacrifice when He gave His all for me? The modern man deified angels and concocts a gospel of feel goodism. It has nothing to do with truth. In fact it s a prison with padded w...

Angels or Jesus, who Wins?

Now to which angels has He ever said: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:13,14 Let us put angels into right perspective. They are ministering spirit and not powerful beings that rule apart from Him. They are sent to minister to us about salvation, to lead, guide and protect. Yet, Jesus has the honour of being invited to sit at the right hand of God, until He, God, makes the Son's enemies His footstool. What an honour! Why such an honour? He is the firstborn of the Father, come to do His will, and He did it brilliantly. He set us free! Amen!

Always there

In the beginning, Lord, You established the earth, And the heavens are the works of Your hands; They will perish, but You remain. They will all wear out like clothing; You will roll them up like a cloak, And they will be changed like a robe. But You are the same, And Your years never end. Hebrews 1:10-12 The writer of Hebrews plucks scriptures from psalm 102:25; Is 50:9; 51:6; Ps 2:7; Ps 102:26 and blends them to be a beautiful representation of Jesus. The whole Old Testament has Jesus threaded through it. Again and again prophesy speaks of Him. For me the bible is like a tapestry, beginning at the bottom, working its way through dark patches, shadow and reflection , exploding in the middle with the Son and the gospels and working to the top a sky full of the glory of Him. He created this earth to walk with us, it started well, went through centuries of darkness, then He Himself came and gave His life so that the end is filled with the Stars promised Abraham, the believers in this last...

Jesus is Far Superior to Angels

For to which angels did He ever say, 'You are My Son'; 'today I have become a your Father,' or again, 'I will be His Father, and He will be my Son?' When again brings His firstborn into the world, He says, 'and all God's Angels must worship Him.' And about the Angels He says: 'He makes His Angels winds, and His servants a fiery flame,' But to the Son: 'Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the sceptre of Your kingdom is a sceptre of justice. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; This is why God Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy rather than Your companions.' Hebrews 1:5-9 I especially love the difference between angels and Jesus. Our world loves to deify angels, raising them above Christ. Why? Because He said He was Lord and that we need to abide in Him. Whereas, our culture see angels and doing our bidding. In fact the biggest problem unbelievers have with Jesus is : 'what did He ever do for me?...

Who is Jesus?

Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed a Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So He became higher in rank than the Angels, just as the name He inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4 One of the greatest mysteries in Christendom is: who wrote the book of Hebrews? Can I throw in my two cents worth? This opening reminds me of one other: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created throug Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in darkness, yet the darkness did ...

The Good Man Called to Release the Slave

I always thank my God when I mention you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and faith towards the the Lord Jesus and for all the saints. I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ. For I have great and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother. Philemon 1:4-7 Paul is setting the tone to now approach Philemon about the liberation and forgiveness of his former slave, Onesimus, who had taken off abruptly and taken his owners possessions with him. It is hard to imagine such a good man having a slave in the first place, yet this was the culture back then and even though Paul was for the emancipation of the slaves, the choice was with the master, not Paul. Paul was approaching Philemon as a friend on behalf of one he called a son. This is a delicate matter and Paul handles it well. Being a man of such stature, to endorse the slave,...
