Seeing and Hearing

But your eyes are blessed because they do see, and your ears because they do hear. Matthew 13:16 Being able to hear what the Lord is saying without actually hearing a voice takes practice and the practice comes about through learning His character, spending time with Him, waiting in His waiting room, knowing Him, doing relationship with Him. When I returned home in the wee hours of this morning He was here to welcome me. Not only does He live inside me but He lives in my home, He welcomed me home as a husband would a wife who had been on a trip somewhere. You don't know how good that feels. The spirit world is very real, I can consciously enter it by acknowledging it and choosing to go there. This is where He lives, where He can be found. I have to cultivate this in my life and then I have safety, a refuge. I can go to this place and I find the answers. I don't have to hear a sentence, yet He speaks in my heart. Most often it is 'look at Me'. Especially when all aro...

Come

d, "Come". so Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out His hand and took hold of him.... Matthew 14:29-31  I seem to have this chip inside that responds to the call of faith. There are many times I wish it was not there but it always wins. The call rises above the mundane, it is full of relationship and it sings to me. The resonance of faith is full of beautiful melody, I am bound to it and cannot escape. After I have spent time with family and hear sympathetic cries of "Why do you do this to yourself?" I examine myself in the light of the ordinary and find so much that does not comply. Yet when I return home and feel the welcome of the spirit I am again challenged to follow. I had a good time with my sisters and mother. Yes we had our moments but they were processed well and we came through as a loving...

The New Has Come

" Where then did this man get all these things?" And they took offense at him. ....And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matthew 13:56-68 We have heard the saying 'familiarity breeds contempt.' These people had witnessed Jesus growing up in their midst, they knew His mother, father, brothers and sisters. Knowing familiar facts can lead us to reject the supernatural. There are times when those we know well are changed by the power of God and they do and say things that are new. Does the knowing of them in former days limit what they now say? Jesus changes peoples lives. He Himself was changed when the Holy Spirit came upon Him. He was not longer the same. People who meet Christ walk into a whole new dimension. When God works in a new way suspicion from the old questions and sometimes persecutes the new. Just because the familiar is comfortable does not mean that it holds the whole truth. We have to maintain an open heart to the new, ...

The Kingdom of Heaven

And He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old. Matthew 13:52 In my life there are things that I have progressively learned over the last 30 years of being a Christian. They are like a wine that I have kept for a long time, it is precious and mature. There are other things that are new. Each day I am learning something new. They are full of revelation and liberty. These things build upon the foundation of my Christian beliefs in my life. I have been trained for the kingdom of heaven, I have the new and the old, both co-habit together quite well. Both enhance the other making me complete. Things that happen in my life can train me for righteousness, if I allow them and not react saying 'why me?' I am here to learn what I need for eternity. This world is not all there is there is so much more. I am made for eternity, it lives inside me. My ...

Mustard Seed

The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. Matthew 13:31,32 This scripture so encourages me. At times the bigness of the worldly ways of others seem to say to me, you can't come in here, I am bigger. Yet the words of the kingdom are greater. The other day I had someone go off at me, unfairly and chose to let it go. My mother noticed and said to me 'I like the way you turn the other cheek.'I did not realise that was what I was doing, for at times I feel trampled on and useless. The person who went off apologised tonight and my mother tells me that they were sorry as soon as they spoke. The kingdom of God and His ways are far greater than anything else and I can so trust it, because it never fails to accomplish that which it sets out to do. I ...

Weeds

The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while he was sleeping his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Matthew13:24-30 Disappointment does not come into the Lord's register. He can cope with an enemy planting weeds in His field. He knows how to handle weeds. Later in the same parable Jesus says that the master of the field told his servants not to try and pull out the weeds until harvest time. I don't know about you but the season of spring here in Australia has caused a proliferation of weeds to spring up all through my lawn, my garden beds, absolutely everywhere I don't want them they are there. I get to and weed them all out. Yes, in some instances I manage to pull out what is not a weed at the same time. Yet in life, Christ is not willing that any should be lost. He is willing to risk the weed nature and will patiently wait until the end, when it is time to harvest. Christ loves all more than a tidy f...

Good Soil

"As for what is sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."Matthew 13:23 Ah! good soil! Lord may I be a field of good soil, thick, rich, full of nutrients. May I receive your precious word and watch it grow as only You can make it grow. Tend me, dig me, fertilize me, together let us see the harvest. Amen! Thank you for what You bring into my world, good and bad. It is how I receive both that determines the fruit. The hurt that comes needs to be handled well, delicately, as if handled wrongly it sours my life and twists me all out of shape. The good needs gratitude and humility so that it is honoured correctly and put in the right place. Handled well it produces abundance, handled wrongly and it rots. Thank You Lord for all! Thank You for Your presence in my world, more precious than friends, family or stuff. You are the glue, the inspiration...
