Fruit

a certain man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it... Luke 13:6 My God has given much that when planted will produce fruit. I face moving into a huge realm that without the Lord is scary but with Him is possible. I will be offered help from people who have compromised their integrity and called it truth. I can't go there. I must walk in truth and perhaps struggle a bit more than I would have if I had the 'help' but this way it will be clean and not married to idolatry and filth. Wide is the road that leads to destruction but narrow is the road to life. There are many on the wide road of ease and flesh, with bloated bellies and empty souls. I want to finish this race with clean hands and with fruit that will stand. I want to hear 'well done' not 'begone from me you who practice lawlessness.' Be great in my life Lord. Amen!

Compelled

I have a baptism with which to be baptised, and how greatly and sorely am I urged on until it is accomplished. Luke 12:49 I am aware that Jesus was talking about the cross and the task before Him yet I feel held by faith to walk a certain path. Today was the day of the triathlon . I had been sick last Saturday with gastric , and during the week began to cough and block up. This morning it rained and rained but I went. I dived into the water and struggled to breathe because of the chest infection but I kept going. I finished the swim and mounted my bike and my head began to pound, it screamed in pain but I kept going. My legs didn't want to pump but I kept going. The ride was arduous, with many hills and pouring rain. I kept going. When I dismounted my legs were like lead and I had yet to run. I stumped along, ever so slowly but said to myself, 'but what if I can? Imagine how good you will feel when you finish.' My son and his family were watching, I knew I had to k...

Fire!

I have come to cast fire upon the earth, and how I wish that it were already kindled. Luke 12:49 The Holy Spirit was given in tongues of fire and set the then known world ablaze. As salvation must be a daily affair so must the kindling of fire. I grew up in the country and we had a wood fire stove. It had to be lit every day. If we were really fortunate a few coals might be left from the previous day but without sustenance from fresh fuel those embers would quickly be extinguished . Each day I must press in for fresh fire, the fuel is my eager hunger for the things of God. The Lord touches my hunger with His love and a fire is born, a consuming fire. God's fire burns away the rubbish, purifies the thoughts and intentions of the heart, clarifies purpose. I must allow the fire or else I am unclean and full of fleshly attitudes and ideas. I must live out of fire, fire is passion, fire is contagious, fire changes things. Lord send Your fire! Amen!

Be Awake!

If the householder had known at what time the burglar was coming, he would have been awake and alert and watching and would not have permitted his house to be dug through and broken into. You must also be ready.... Luke 12:39,40 Even as I must be ever watchful for the Lord, if I am not watchful and pressing in to the Kingdom, my enemy is devising ways to undo or tear down my faith. The serpents voice 'did God say?' has not changed. However, focus deals with the voices as he cannot penetrate faith. I am possessed with possessing my territory, God has a plan and a land that is mine and the enemy has to yield, it is no longer his, it has been given to me. My land is full of abundance in relationship, finance, breakthrough in knowing my authority in Christ, in souls, victory and winning in all new endeavours. As my Lord is coming at a time I do not know my enemy will turn up as soon as my guard is down. I must have a plan and work the plan and chase the borders, constantly ch...

Ready

Keep your loins girded and your lamp burning....... wait in readiness for the Lords return so that when He comes you can open the door immediately and He will come in and have you sit down and serve you. Luke 12:35-37 (Di's paraphrase) Our enemy comes to rob, steal and plunder. When a promise comes to our hearts we have to be ready, looking in the right direction with a heart that says 'yes!yes!yes! and the Lord will come in and cause us to sit at the banquet He has prepared for us before our enemies. When we hold a hope and begin to look at the desired provision we can be disappointed. In our attempt to read the spirit and the timing of provision we can become distracted yet if we keep our focus (focus!focus!focus!), if our heart is set and our gaze is toward Him who brings it all together then we will not be disappointed and when the provision comes the Lord causes us to sit. Last night at DivorceCare we studied reconciliation and I witnessed those who the Lord is worki...

Treasure

for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also...... sell what you possess and give to the poor Luke 12:33,34 These verses challenge me. What do I sell and give? What do I keep? I didn't think I had a lot of clothes until someone said to me 'You have a lot of clothes don't you?' I thought I had a lot of odds and ends, amazing what perspective we have. I personally do not like to collect stuff because then I have to insure it against thieves, I also don't like clutter. Yet I do have plenty, all I need and perhaps more than I need. I prefer to invest in people and relationships. I don't think of buying them stuff but giving them time. I have an abundance of love, I am practical and can solve many things, I love to serve. Yet what is my Lord saying? What can I do? How can I help the poor? I don't think of them much unless they are in my face. I know more people who are poor in spirit than in possessions. As we face the getting season what will w...

The Treasure

do not be afraid little flock, it is Your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom Luke 12:32 I have begun to understand what the father is actually giving when we see 'the Kingdom'. The word Kingdom translates as authority. My Jesus, put His foot on satan's neck and demanded my freedom when I invited Christ into my life. I have been redeemed, blood bought, saved from a life of hell on earth and in the hereafter. My Lord paid my debt, I am totally free of the clutches of sin, sickness and destruction. The rules of the Kingdom now reign in my life. The above scripture comes after the teaching on not being anxious for anything. My lot is to now to learn the principles of kingdom living. My God is bringing me into an understanding of my authority in Christ. As I understand the authority I am under then I begin to see the authority I have. I am not my own, I have been bought ( redeemed ) for a price. I cannot live for darkness or self. My lovely Lord has a very...

On Guard

Guard you heart and keep it free from all wanting what belong to others, find out what belongs to you. Luke 12:15 (Di's paraphrase) Sometime we can read the actual text and become condemned but if we really look at what it means, there is a promise there for us. If I seek Him for what is mine in this day, (give me today my daily bread) and genuinely seek Him and all He brings with Him, courting Him then my day will be blessed and I will be abundantly satisfied. My God wants me to look at Him, because He is beautiful, He wants me to long for Him, not stuff, because He loves to love me. As I allow Him to be God in my day it changes into a miracle, I release Him to be creative and smart. My God has a plan for my life, He desires to create something fantastic in me, I am a promise, a possibility. (old kiddies song)

Perspective

Did not He who made the outside of the cup make the inside also? But dedicate your inner self and give as donations to the poor of those things which are within Luke 11:40b-41 We are so keen to be seen as we imagine ourselves to be that we will go to great lengths to act that way when in fact that is not really us. Quite stressful really! In the scripture above the Lord has been berating the Pharisees for their obsession with the outward show, while missing the need to face the inward heart. What is really going on in our hearts? do we really care or are we performing according to a herd mentality or perhaps to a script? Jesus says above that it is much more important to get it right in the heart and then do good because our heart really wants to, and for no other reason. I so much more enjoy a clean heart and acting from that heart. I know I have to care for my heart because it can get messed up at times. The book of proverbs warns us to guard our heart for from it comes the i...

Everyone!

For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened. Luke 11:10 The operative word here is everyone. It does not say the best looking, the smartest, the ones with the best families or the most money. Everyone means everyone, but it does indicate the character of the asker , they don't give up. God is interested in our character and our relationship with Him. He is not a grocery store proprietor who takes orders, He is a loving God who wants a relationship. Laziness and self pity cannot reside in the heart of the tenacious, they don't like each other. Laziness and self-pity are like a wet suffocating blanket, whereas tenacity is like a sharp, flaming sword. Tenacity and faith reside together, they are into action, taking territory, never, never, never giving up. We have to choose who is our Lord, who is stronger, what do we really believe? As for me and my house...

Shameless Persistence

So I say to you,ask and keep on asking and it shall be given to you, seek and keep on seeking and you shall find, knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. Luke 11:9 This passage comes after the 'Lord's prayer'. Jesus had told the disciples the format, then He goes on to tell about the attitude that receives. Today I spent the day with my grandchildren. Children are persistent, some stubornly so. My grandson Ryan is 2 and from when he could speak he decided that his older brother should be Bob, not Myer. Today Myer informed me that it is now Buffalo Bob. I laughed and laughed. Ryan had won, Myer had fought against being called Bob, so creatively he assisted Ryan to call him a name he thought worthy of him, 'Buffalo Bob'. Ryan's stubborn tenacity has a down side as well. He lets you know when he does not like his punishment. Fortunately my son and his wife are more tenacious and are determined to mould little Ryan. As I went out to my car Rya...

Forgiven

and forgive us our sins as we forgive others their sins against us Luke 11:4 Eyes were opened last night. The reality of forgiveness, the need for it in our own lives, our own sin and the stepping toward forgiving others hit home. The word of God touched base. Gently the Holy Spirit is wooing lost souls and lovingly bringing them home, how beautiful to watch. Hard hearts are melting as the ways of God are being received. My Lord, protect Your word in their hearts, keep it safe from the enemy of their souls. Holy one, cover it and cause it to bear fruit. Cause them to be potato plants bearing much fruit. Two participants who had been particularly offended by their ex-spouses bad behavior and last night saw their own sin. One even confessed that she knew she needed to forgive but was not yet able but was willing to walk towards it. My God I love to watch You at work, You are good. Go Lord! Amen!

Prayer

Lord, teach us how to pray just as John taught his disciples. Luke 11:1 Wow! The disciples had preached and laid hands on the sick, cast out devils but did not know how to pray. They had watched Jesus go aside and spend all night, at times, with the Father in prayer. I am amazed it took so long. Did they not know that this was the source of His power, as He plugged into His father He went forth and did great things. However, I have been saved 37 years and only now I am discovering the truth of Matthew 6:33 ‘seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and then all these things taken together will be given to you.’ I have given up the struggle. As I press into Him, I can trust Him for timing and provision. I am enjoying pressing in and my eyes are off my needs and wants. He is now my focus. As I press in out comes something and I am always surprised because it is like a lucky dip. I am not telling Him what it must be, it is Him I am seeking. Sometimes it is a release of soul, sometimes ...
