Holy Spirit

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We can trust Jesus’ words. He is faithful! He sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. We can go to Him for than outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It is called the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit has gifts to give: wisdom, insight, healing, miracles, faith, discernment of spirits, tongues and interpretation of tongues. These are to be used to building up the church and minister.

There are gifts of calling, gifts of giving, serving, teaching and more. Most importantly we have His love inside us to govern us.

Who would be without the Holy Spirit? His divine wisdom is impassable. Amen!

What is good?

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
‭‭Micah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Below is the Passion Translation of the same verse:

“No! Listen, O Adam’s offspring, Yahweh has made it plain to you what is best. He has shown you what he really is longing for from you— only to promote justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”Micah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The Lord is longing for me to do this. Why is He longing for me to do this? When we pray ‘May Your kingdom come, Your will be done’, we are proclaiming God’s ways and rulership over the earth, and in particular our own lives and the world we live in.

Yesterday, as I left the swimming pool in Sadobato I saw a small jacaranda seedling growing under a pot and thought, “I’ll take that it will only die if left there.” I felt justified. However, the Lord thought otherwise. The plant withered and began to die on the way home. In His eyes I had stolen and this plant was on the pools property. I had not asked if I could have it, I walked out hiding it in case I must respond. That is theft. This is where God is at with me.

So, today, why was God like that? Because He wants His righteousness and honesty to stamp a corrupt land not have me become like it. I will have to learn enough language to ask permission. Today I will ask a friend who does speak Nepali to go back with me and offer payment. The plant is lingering, perhaps it will survive if I go, however, even if it doesn’t I will have made a stamp for righteousness. That is why I am here. Amen!

Live again

“Lord Yahweh says to you: “ ‘I am now going to breathe into you, and you will live again! I will attach muscles and sinews to you. I will make flesh grow on you. I will cover you with skin. I am going to breathe into you, and you will live again. And you will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”Ezekiel‬ ‭37‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭TPT‬‬

These verses are taken from the valley of the dry bones encounter Ezekiel had with God. It is an amazing encounter and one worth reading in its entirety.

In this section God had given Ezekiel a prophesy to speak over the dry bones. As he did the bones came together into bodies, muscle and sinew came on the bones and when the bodies were formed God breathed life into the bodies and they came alive. The Talmudic records stated that these bones were from the handsome young men Nebuchadnezzar had taken back to his land. However, these young men were executed because of the jealousy of Nebuchadnezzar because the women in Babylon were falling in love with them. The Talmud teaches that this was a real event. The young men were restored.

We live in a day when we Christian’s are seeking God for an outpouring of His Spirit and that those who have walked away from Christ will come alive in the revival fires coming.

My prayer is that the Holy Spirit be poured out and a great miracle ensues. Amen!

Confession

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We live in a day where acknowledgement of sin is s hurdle. What me?? Sin??? Yes we do sin! Every time we open our mouths we have the potential to sin. As James tells us:
“And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.”James‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The word for tongue in Nepali is ‘jibro’. It reminds me of jibber, and jibber reminds me of chatter. We do like to chatter. I have a friend who chatters at speed. However, just because I do not chatter at speed does not absolve me from hurtful comments. On Sunday I happened to say to her husband, ‘ next week you can have a turn to speak!’ At the time I thought that comment was innocuous, however, it was a barb. I found the chatter overbearing, in my ‘humble’ opinion, of course.

Lately the Lord has shown me the source of the barbs and annoyance. I find critical thoughts in my head a lot and if I act on them they become hurtful. I am learning to refuse to speak them and tell the thoughts where to go.

May I be an instrument of healing and worship!

Asking, seeking, knocking

““Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I have a prayer list. I seek the Holy Spirit to help in prayer. Some things on that list I see answers for, others I do not and have to believe He is working.

Almost a month ago I wrote to my church asking for help to obtain a vehicle to navigate the difficult terrain in Sindhulpalchok. It seemed as if I had been forgotten but yesterday I received a reply. Praise God He is working to help me. A plan is underway.

In some areas, namely family, I have not seen progress, but must believe God is at work. He is faithful and will work all things out. Salvation is high on the list.

In other areas, namely Muslims coming to Christ, I am seeing results. I am sure I am one of many praying  into this area. Meanwhile I have the honour of advocating for Christian refugees from these lands.

Ther are so many things to ray for. I have been praying for my country and there has been a grass Rory’s uprising of ordinary folk protesting against the government mishandling of affairs in our country. Whilst the government dismiss them as nazis the movement will grow as the arrogance of government is portrayed.

God is at work and I delight in being involved. A life of prayer is important. Amen!

Ears to hear

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This verse is a part of God’s response to Solomon’s building and dedication of the temple. God warns that at times, if the people turn from Him, He would send famines and plagues to get the people’s attention, then if they turned to Him and humbled themselves in prayer He would listen and heal their land.

Many Christians have taken this scripture for themselves to be a reminder that they can see their land healed through repentance and prayer.

Yesterday, in Australia, there was an uprising of ordinary Australians parading in capital cities to tell the government they had lost their way. One of the major parties was having its annual conference and absent. I noticed that the churches went on as usual with their services. Did they also miss what the people were saying?

People are hungry for righteous and godly governments who hear and listen to their cries. Are they also giving the churches the same message by gathering, not to church, but together in parades?

Lord may we have ears to hear!

Mother to the motherless

“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.”Psalms‬ ‭68‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I am not father to the fatherless but mother to the motherless. I am grateful that the Lord is Father. He is a good Father. He trains us in His ways. His training is not brutal, but lovingly persistent and kind.

The Lord defends me. I am not a widow but a divorcee. He still defends me. Praise Him! He does not discriminate.

There are many orphans in Nepal. Either through desth or neglect. However, the government is not allowing any more children’s homes due to wanting to  exclude Christian organisations. Those who have permits are doing all they can. Still, many children are neglected. There are families where existing fathers are drunks. They steal all the money they can for another drink. This robs the children of food, clothing and schooling. A way around this is to empower the women to create businesses that support them and the children. However, they need help with a start.

In Bangladesh Grameen Bank was started to overcome this and was successful. A similar organization began in Nepal to do the same, but many business in Nepal become top heavy and the poor on the bottom become neglected.

I am praying for a godly solution. Please pray for me!
