Jars of Clay

Give thanks to the Lord , for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34 HCSB

The above was a command given by David to the priests as they brought the ark of the Lord back to Israel. In fact He had said: Then David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their relatives as singers and to have them raise their voices with joy accompanied by musical instruments — harps, lyres, and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 15:16

David had tried to bring back the ark on a cart but when a man died for touching it he went to the scripture and discovered that the priests were to carry it. I can imagine he was quite excited about getting the procedure right and knowing he had procured the ark for the city of Jerusalem.

In the New Testament we are the ark, God's presence dwells in His people. It is not as if we each have a small portion but as His Spirit dwells in us, all of Him can dwell in each one.

If all of my God dwells in Me them I can commune with Him at any time. He does not take time out. He is always on duty. Therefore I can rejoice: God dwells in me! What a treasure!

The apostle Paul said:
Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7

We are made of clay. Adam the first man was made from dirt. Something so simple, like a clay jar, can hold the presence of God! How special are we! Amen!
