The Word

Acts 2:24 (AMP) [But] God raised Him up, liberating Him from the pangs of death, seeing that it was not possible for Him to continue to be controlled or retained by it. What was it that was in Jesus that refused to be held by death? The scripture spoke about Him, David wrote about Him in prophesy. This speaks to me. The word of the Lord has come to me in prophesy, in dreams, in visitation, the scripture tells me who I am. The word of the Lord abides forever, He runs to fulfill it. Jesus had faith in the word, He had faith in the Father 'For You will not abandon my soul, leaving it helpless in Hades'. The word of God is truth and life, there is power in the word of God, to raise up, to provide, to protect, to set free. Faith cannot be quenched, it is a fire that burns continually, my God is my portion, He is my reward, He goes before me, He restores me, He strengthens me, He will never fail. Amen!

Greater

2 Kings 7:3 (AMP) Why do we sit here until we die? The above verse relates to 4 lepers who sat outside the gates of the city of Samaria, the city folk believed they were surrounded by the Syrians and were starving. The were so hungry they were eating their own children. The lepers were outcasts and figured they had nothing to lose, so they went across to the Syrian camp and found them all gone. God had made the Syrians believe they were under attack. How many times do were sit, believing we are lost when our enemy has already been routed? What have we to lose by stepping out? The ways of God are unfathomable so why do we treat Him like a man? I know that much noise is made by my enemy but my bible tells me 'if God is for me who can be against me?' My God is GOD! Amen!

Power not Knowledge

Acts 1:7 (AMP) He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings ............ Acts 1:8 (AMP) 8 But you shall receive power ..... and you shall be My witnesses ..... It is common for us to want to know. When will this happen? What will happen? How will me life work out? Jesus taught His disciples to be anxious for nothing, not to try and work things out but to trust. The Lord's plan was that we would be baptised with His power to do His work not sitting around fretting about our lives and how we will pay our bills, how we will survive. The enemy comes against us with fears, he plays on our anxieties about tomorrow. Yet while we are distracted about tomorrow we lose sight of today and His plan for today. When the disciples waited, as directed, for this Holy Spirit, they spent time in community reading the word and praying. They became centred and focused, they became quiet and at rest. They became ready for their empowering. Fretting cause...

Different but the Same

John 21:12 (AMP) Jesus said to them, Come [and] have breakfast. He prepares a table for me........ Jesus did not need the disciples toil to provide the food yet He invited them to bring part of what they had to cook along with His divinely provided fish. The disciples did not recognise Jesus when He first spoke to them, yet as He spoke John recognised what He said, He had said it before. The disciples had been getting used to a new Jesus, a risen Jesus who came and went. This was different but the same. Amid the new there will be the same so that we can see the experience is Him. The preparing of breakfast was relational, the Jesus they knew, yet divine, the risen Lord. The breakfast was for only one really, for Peter. A restoration of the man who three times denied Jesus, a preparation for the future. There was nothing unfinished with Jesus, He was going and the disciples needed to be ready. In every stage of my life He is there, giving me room, preparing me for what is to co...

Speak Up

John 19:39 (MSG) Nicodemus, who had first come to Jesus at night, came now in broad daylight carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. In the previous verse Joseph of Arimathea had secretly gone to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. He was frightened of the Jews. Nicodemus had secretly gone to Jesus in the night because he was intimidated by the high priests, because he was a Pharisee. Nicodemus had made his stand with the high priests, He validated Jesus before them, he had spoken up. Now he was no longer intimidated he came freely in the daylight for all to see. Jesus Himself taught 'he who is ashamed of me and my gospel I am ashamed of before my Father' Make 8:38 Fear of man can cause us to be silent when we should speak up. In the past I had been intimidated by bullies to not speak up, the bully is defeated and how free, now, is my confession. 'He who the Son sets free is free indeed.' Jn 8:36 He is able to completely save us fro...

Let's Not Become Weary

And let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal 6:9 Disillusionment is a huge tool of the enemy. Negativity and disappointment can rob us. How do we deal with them? encourage ourselves in the Lord, tell Him all about our stuff and say 'but I will praise You for You are good and Your word says You are on my side'. At the beginning of the week I had a nasty situation where a client and I could not communicate, the client was becoming very upset and I could see how bad things could get. I was being pressed on all sides but I went to the Lord and asked for His grace. I reminded Him of the power of His grace and how He had saved me from eternal damnation by His grace and I asked for His grace again. I had written to my client and apologised if I had caused the problem. Yet the client had not acknowledged the email. The next morning I received an email from my client which I did not fully understand. However the ...

Saviour

Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them Hebrews 7:25 I love this scripture. My church is doing a memorization of scripture week and this was yesterday's scripture. I need to hold on to this scripture especially when I am, by the world's standard, undeserving. The enemy is howling big time and I am in my boat. I am grateful that I can go to the Lord and say 'your word says you will save me completely'. I rejoice that my Jesus paid the price for my humanity. I am so grateful that because He lives I can face today and tomorrow. Thank you Lord. Amen!

Manifesting the Father

Jn 17:6 I have manifested Your Name (I Have revealed Your very self, Your real self) to the people whom You have given me out of the world. How did Jesus manifest the Father's name? What did He do? What character did He show? Patience, long-suffering , love, gentleness, justice, mercy, self-control, goodness, meekness, in fact the fruits of the Spirit. He healed the sick, forgave the sinner, set the captives free. This must be the Father if that is what He manifested. He told a parable about the Prodigal Son. In the parable He told of a father, in fact The Father. Do I want to know this Father? Yes! Is He different from the law I have known? Yes definitely! Jesus also showed how to love friends, foes, family. What is one word that would describe Him? Humble. He lay down His own life, desires, attitudes and adopted the Fathers. I so love Him for this. Amen!

Humility

John 17:25 (MSG) Righteous Father, the world has never known you, But I have known you, and these disciples know That you sent me on this mission. Righteous Father! Jesus taught that only God is righteous and that he gives that righteousness to us when we invite Him into our lives. Therefore I am right because of what He has done not because of my works. Scripture tells us that we are right by God's hand so we don't go boasting. When someone has wronged us and we keep a right heart this is no grounds for boasting, because we have done it. God's righteousness has nothing to do with our actions, however we should behave rightly because we love Him. How easily we become self-righteous, what a trap it is! Self-righteousness stinks just as bad as any sin. I have two little white dogs who love to roll in stink. They think that it enhances their position but all it does is get them a bath. We think self-righteously, we have attained a position when we do what we consider is...

Staying Soft

John 17:1 (MSG) Then, raising his eyes in prayer, he said: Father, it's time. Display the bright splendor of your Son So the Son in turn may show your bright splendor. Us humans spend so much time fighting for a cause that it becomes who we are. Yesterday, we in Australia, voted for our next government. Watching various programmes who ran commentary on the developments we saw certain politicians who were quite nasty in the way they spoke about and to their rivals. They merely showed us what we are like when we think our cause is greater and we therefore are better than the opposition. Jesus made a point of putting the will of the Father first and not involving Himself in party politics. His disciples tried to make it a party thing on a few occasions but Jesus kept the main thing the main thing. In parallel to the New Testament readings I am also reading 1Kings and read about Solomon's building of the Temple. God said to Solomon, after all was done, 'now, if you contin...

Judgement

John 16:8-11 (MSG)"When he comes, he'll expose the error of the godless world's view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He'll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted. Wow! How does this shoot down a lot of what we practice? If I were to ask anyone out there in the world to tell me what they considered was sin they would say things like murder and robbery, adultery would no longer be on the list as it is now acceptable. Yet Jesus said that refusal to believe in Him is our basic sin. I could be picky and say that this is inside church as well as outside. Going to church and singing a few songs, repeating liturgy, listening to sermons does not equate with belief in it's truest form. Righteousness, well now isn't that because I am so good doing all...

Refuge

John 15:9 (MSG) 9 "I've loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. We do what we see. Jesus had seen the love of the Father, He had experienced that love and was therefore able to walk in that love. He now loves me the same. I can deduce that the Father is faithful, ever constant, does not judge, longs to share, thinks well of me. My challenge is to stay at home in that love. In other words, kick back, put on comfy clothes, feel totally accepted, not needing to perform, not worrying about how I look or act but relaxing in love. WOW! The reason that I have a challenge believing is that I had earthly examples that were not like that, before ever I became intimately acquainted with my Jesus. However, He is winning, He is faithful and I so love Him for it. He never, never rejects me, never, never, never!!! And now, if I abide in His love, settle down in it, I can ask whatever I want, concerning Him and He will do it. Today I had a most dif...

Trust

John 14:1 (MSG) "Don't let this throw you. You trust God, don't you? Trust me. Jesus had just been telling His disciples about His coming death and then He says the above statement. The disciples had the Jewish idea that the Messiah would live forever yet here He was talking of His death. They were confused. We each receive a curved ball at sometime in life. At that moment we have to go to God and trust. I remember when my daughter was 8 and diagnosed with Perthes disease in her right hip I went to the Lord and said Lord I am lacking faith and am scared, He told me to trust Him and I did. All sort of horrible results could have come to pass but Leanne spent 12 months on crutches, and although was told she would limp for the rest of her life, she doesn't, in fact she runs and has born two children without the complications her mother went through. When faith is not around trusting, steadfastly in the one who can save works. Amen!

My Song

2 Samuel 22:1-4 ( GW ) David sang this song to the Lord when the Lord rescued him from all his enemies, especially from Saul. He said, The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my Savior, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, the strength of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, and my Savior who saved me from violence e. The Lord should be praised. I love the whole of the song but realise it is too much for this blog. I can sing my own song beside David. My God is my refuge and strength. Last night I slept lightly as I was aware that the Lord was busy constructing something in the heavenlies for me. I felt loved. Before waking I had a dream, I had given birth to mine and was alone, without provision. I was in a maternity hospital and all the other woman were asking me why I was there without all the necessary gear. I explained that I had been separated from my husband and amid flight to my destination was found alone in a strange place. There was a woman in room 1...

The Power of Grace

John 13:3-5 ( GW ) 3 The Father had put everything in Jesus' control. Jesus knew that. He also knew that he had come from God and was going back to God. 4 So he got up from the table, removed his outer clothes, took a towel, and tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel that he had tied around his waist. What an interesting run of scripture. It tells us: What the Father had done -He had put everything in Jesus' control What Jesus Knew - He had come from God and was going back to God SO - He did something so unusual THEN - He performed an act of service Grace acts in spite of pain, in spite of power, in spite of sin. Grace gives power, grace breaks bonds, grace heals, grace purifies, grace is all there really is worth keeping. Jesus knew who would betray him, but he washed His betrayer's feet as well. Have mercy Lord! That I might know such grace. Amen!

Suffering

John 12:27-28 ( GW ) “I am too deeply troubled now to know how to express my feelings. Should I say, ‘Father, save me from this time {of suffering}'? No! I came for this time of suffering. Father, give glory to your name.” A voice from heaven said, “I have given it glory, and I will give it glory again.” Suffering ! Uggh ! Let's not talk about it and it might go away! There are seasons of suffering whether we like it or not, Jesus knew His turn was coming. This scripture and Gethsemane speak of the knowledge He had of it's coming. Although the Son of God, Jesus asked that He might not face it and then says 'No! I came for this time of suffering.' The 'time of suffering' was the real reason he came, to set us free. The prelude, the walking with 12 men, healing the sick, setting captives free, getting up the noses of the Pharisees was to give attention, give fuel to the main event. Why would the Pharisees want to kill Him if the annoying miracles and pre...

Where is Life Today?

John 12:26 ( GW ) Those who serve me must follow me. My servants will be with me wherever I will be. If people serve me, the Father will honor them. Where is the Lord today? What is He doing? The Spirit of God is always up to something. As we come aside from that which has captured our hearts and minds and seek the Lord we discover Him and His doings. Sometime we can be so captured by our own thoughts and purposes, we can come into church that way and leave that way without an encounter with 'Life'. Am I vitally connected to Him today? If so I will see great things. Lord let me see Your glory? amen!

The report

John 11:40 (AMP) Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you and promise you that if you would believe and rely on Me, you would see the glory of God? The above verse relates to the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Our natural minds are held captive by what we see and know, by the doctors reports, the scans etc but what is the spirit saying? If we dare to ask that question we would hear Him saying 'I am greater, this is not unto death.' This is what Jesus heard. Spirit of God wash over me, refresh my mind and spirit that I might see You and not my circumstances. This past week I have been swinging the battle axe, so to speak. It has been a heavy week and the onslaught of the enemy great. Ahhh but God! As I went for a walk with my dogs last night a heaviness, a hopelessness came over me, yet I began to confess 'I am blessed, I am whole, I am what the spirit promises I am'. I awoke this morning confessing I am blessed, I am whole, I am what God promises I am. When so...

Recognition

I am the Good Shepherd , and I know and recognise my own, and they know and recognise me. Jn 10:14 Recognition is important. We can be in a crowded hall and hear a voice we recognise. We can be in a crowded street and hear someone call our name and although we share our name with many others but because of the voice that calls, one we recognise, that is significant to us. Jesus said He knows His sheep. This means He knows our bleat. If we are lost or caught in difficulty He comes. That He knows our voice means we are His. If I, being evil, as Jesus said, give good gifts to my grandchildren, how much more does Jesus care and give good gifts to His sheep. The difficulty lies in us believing that we are worth so much and that He really does want to bless us. My grandchildren take it as a given that I want to bless them even though they are naughty /good/naughty. Not for a moment do they think that Nan does not want to be with them, read to them, walk with them, do craft with them, play...

Seeing but not seeing

2 Samuel 6:8-10 (AMP) David was grieved and offended because the Lord had broken forth upon Uzzah , .... and David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, How can the ark of the Lord come to me? So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to him into the City of David; 'But God I thought this is what You were leading me to do, why is Your hand against me?' Sound familiar? 'I wanted Your glory! I did what I thought You wanted, why is all this happening?' Aagh !!!! Who can know the mind of the Lord? A piece of the puzzle was missing. David had not know the prescribed way to carry the ark was on the shoulders of the Levites . It took David three months to get over his grief and offense, about right wouldn't you say? It takes time to get over offense and sort out our heart. David only had to hear that Obed- edom was being blessed for having the ark in his home that his love for God's presence was revived so that it overtook the offense. When God...

Seeing

John 9:41 ( GW ) Jesus told them, “If you were blind, you wouldn't be sinners. But now you say, ‘We see,' so you continue to be sinners. Ouch! If I say I see but behave as one who does not see, in other words compromise the truth then I am in sin. A little knowledge can inflate an ego and so many times either because of our position or authority we judge and get it wrong. I am faced with having to keep humble and receive more information, even though my experience screams judge and move in that judgement. In the parable of the sower some of the seed fell on rock and it withered because it had no moisture. To me a rock can be a hard heart. Why is it hard? It lacks moisture and that moisture comes from the living water. The living water water cannot penetrate a hard heart. My job, it appears, is to keep a soft open heart to the Lord. What is He saying? It is more important to hear what He is saying that what my experience is saying for He alone has life. Amen!

Giving Room

John 8:15-16 ( GW ) You judge the way humans do. I don't judge anyone. Even if I do judge, my judgment is valid because I don't make it on my own. I make my judgment with the Father who sent me. Have you ever been caught in a dog fight? I have, you end up being bitten by your own dog. When dogs are fighting they are in a different place, their teeth are gnashing and their eyes are red with rage, they see the other dog as the enemy. As you try to separate the dogs because you can see the damage coming you risk damage to yourself. Last night I was caught in such a fight. We have the spouse of a divorced person coming to DivorceCare . There is so much bad blood between the parties it is horrifying. Children are involved as well. I was seen as taking sides and copped a tongue lashing. To be able to help the spouse receive as much from the programme as possible I have to give them room. This is a tenuous task but one I can do without taking sides. It is Jesus who knows hearts ...

An excellent spirit

1 Samuel 30:6 ( GW ) 6 David was in great distress because the people in their bitterness said he should be stoned. (They were thinking of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.) How easily others will turn against even an excellent leader and want to stone them. When in pain the minions look for someone to blame and the leader gets it in the head because they are standing up front. David did not withdraw from the people, instead he inquired of the Lord about what he should do. The Lord said 'go get back what has been taken from you.' David led his men to find all that had been taken, their wives, children and stock. When 200 could go no further he let them stay behind and when he had rescued the lost families and property he returned to them. Those with begrudging hearts wanted to treat the weak, who had stayed behind, with disdain but David said that they were still a part of the team and gave them a share of the loot. Those who follow will n...

Mercy

John 7:51 ( GW ) “Do Moses' Teachings enable us to judge a person without first hearing that person's side of the story? We can't judge a person without finding out what that person has done.” There is always two sides of a story. We the readers have benefit of knowing the beginning, we know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the Jews were arguing about where He had come from and therefore if He was indeed the Christ. Us humans are easily offended because we do not know the full picture. We are offended because of our mindset and beliefs. Jesus was calling the people to a higher way, a way of faith and grace. How much better it is to go to the Lord as say 'I do not understand why this person is doing this to me, help me see the big picture.' In stead we react and take a stance of offence and lose all opportunity of discovering the greater purpose. An offended heart does make one sick, it sours the milk whereas a merry heart, a heart not encumbered by offence or ...

Life Is Spiritual

John 6:63 ( GW ) Life is spiritual. Your physical existence doesn't contribute to that life. The words that I have spoken to you are spiritual. They are life. If we can only catch this truth. Life is spiritual! As I live as a spiritual being living in a fleshly tent the spirit renews the flesh. Life is in the spirit. My life flows out of the spirit. If I feed that life it is well and alive, truly alive. If I speak, live and move out of the spirit then I bring life to my world. Jesus lived out of the union He had with the father. He fed on His relationship with the father. I must speak words of life and colour my world with life, vibrant, beautiful, satisfying. I can buy gifts, make gifts but the best gift I can give is life. Jesus knew this. He said 'the words I have spoken to you are spiritual'. For a hearing ear they were words of life. May I fill my world, today, with life. Amen!

Healing

John 5:19 ( GW ) 19 Jesus said to the Jews, “I can guarantee this truth: The Son cannot do anything on his own. He can do only what he sees the Father doing. Indeed, the Son does exactly what the Father does. If I see what the Father is doing then I can be confident that I can do likewise. During the night I awoke seeing how healing takes place. Faith is imparted to the sick by taking their focus from where they are. If vision for a future can be found then they step into the future using the strength of the person they see in the future. The problem with sickness is that it captures the focus of the ailing in the now with smoke and mirrors. Remember the enemy is noisy. Pain is another tool of the enemy but if the sick can look steadily at that future them who is without pain then they can rise up in that strength. Wow!

Protection

1 Samuel 18:30 ( GW ) 30 The Philistine generals still went out {to fight Israel}. But whenever they went out {to fight}, David was more successful than the rest of Saul's officers. So David gained a good reputation. 1 Samuel 19:1 ( GW ) 1 Saul told his son Jonathan and all his officers to kill David. But Saul's son Jonathan was very fond of David, David was loved by the people, David was loved by the King's son but that did not make his life safe. David fled to Samuel, now here's a high powered dude, but that did not make it safe for David. Everyone who went near Samuel began to prophesy, even Saul, but that did not help David. David fled to another priest but Saul had a man there, he could not stay. David fled to King Achish , King of Gath , but could not stay and had to feign madness. Finally David went to the cave of Adullam and his father and brothers joined him. everyone who was in debt or distress joined him. What a mess! A man destined to be king livi...

Timing

.....and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. 1Sam 16:13b David had just been anointed to be the next king of Israel but that eventuality was far away in the future. David's first appointment after being anointed was to serve king Saul who was now troubled by an evil spirit. David had to play his harp to soothe the king. Not the most pleasant of tasks. His second task was to take food to his brothers on the front line. He was a courier. David was learning servanthood . His next task was to slay Goliath. Now this was a momentous occasion , finally he had arrived. Finally God would establish him. Would He? Throughout my life as a christian there have been moments when I have thought, 'finally God is letting me loose'. Within days things have changed, mostly for the worst and I am left scratching my head. The ways of God are unfathomable but he has a plan. I am so grateful that I was not 'let loose' when I thought I was ready...

A Lot with a Few

1 Samuel 14:6-7 ( GW ) Jonathan said to his armor bearer , “Let's go to the military post of these uncircumcised people. Maybe the Lord will act on our behalf. The Lord can win a victory with a few men as well as with many.” His armor bearer answered him, “Do whatever you have in mind. Go ahead! I agree with you.” This is the first time we see Jonathan individually spoken about. He was bold, a warrior, a man of faith. He knew how to step out and trust God. He dared to find God in victory. Jonathan's armour bearer was also a man of faith. 'Do whatever you have in mind, Go Ahead! I agree with you.' Both saw a huge move of God, all because they stepped out in faith. God responds to faith and boldness. I can see God saying to the angels, 'it is on boys, go and have some fun'. The Philistines were sent into confusion and began killing one another. What has God for me to do today? How can I release Him to be great on my behalf today? I am but very few, BUT God ...

Noise

1 Samuel 11:2 ( GW ) Nahash the Ammonite responded, “I'll make a treaty with you on this one condition: I'll poke out everyone's right eye and bring disgrace on all Israel.” We cannot make a treaty with the enemy without huge cost. He is noisy, arrogant and demanding. He leaves us disfigured. For the first time in the lives of my dogs (10 & 8) they have a cough. It is the funniest thing. I am sure they don't appreciate it but it reminds me of the nature of our enemy. He has to create noise to get attention. He afflicts so we make noise, whine, complain, cough, sneeze, creak. How decrepit ! My God, when He has us, brings quiet, peace, humility, gentleness, health, wholeness. Mind you laughter is there also but it is the sound of bubbling brooks, His praise like the roar of a waterfall, the song in my heart like a spring rain. We are constantly told to choose. We do choose, I choose words of life. What are You saying Lord? I have to agree with what He is sayin...

Overcomers

Today I watched a clip by TD Jakes called Overcomers, below are the main points and my story follows. There are four things great overcomers have: 1) Great Morals and great values We need to build our home where truth is, TD says ‘pitch your tent where truth is’. 2) Great methods Having great methods restrains you from leaping into your dreams. 3) Great Means Take what you have and use it for God’s glory. Use your gift for God’s glory and your gift will make room for you. 4) Great Management To him much is given much is required. If you don’t have great management you will waste what God has given you. The more God pours into your life the more you have to manage it. God has an appointed time to bless us. It is pre-destined and therefore unusual opposition will come against it, all hell will break loose against it. You must value the word of God; make room in your life for the word of God. My Story The Lord has been working this message in my life. When I was first ...

Power to Change

1 Samuel 9:21 ( GW ) Saul replied, “I am a man from the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest tribe of Israel. My family is the most insignificant of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin. So why are you saying such things to me?” Again, and forever God chooses what is insignificant to use. Saul was a handsome, tall man, but he had no expectations. All that Samuel told Saul, Saul found mystifying and didn't want. He would have been happy with life as it was. When Samuel came to anoint Saul as king he hid in the baggage, a most reluctant king. Gideon was a reluctant deliverer but he had something Saul didn't. There was a spark of life in Gideon that caused him to seek the truth. Even after prophesying with prophets Saul was unimpressed. Saul did not have faith for what came to him and his life spoke of that lack of faith. Faith would have changed things, seeking God would have changed things. Saul had no vision for leadership. As Christians we have a hope and a purpose. W...
