Seeds amd Provision

Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast by turning.
James 1:17 HCSB

Earlier in this chapter James deals with the fact that God does not tempt us. We are tempted by our own evil desires. The other thing we often hear a Christian say is: "I am going through a trial." Many times we cause the trial by our confession or behaviour. However, there are some things that come from left field and totally surprise us.

Sowing and reaping are principles that rule the world. We may have forgotten the bad seed we had sown and the harvest takes us by surprise. King David knew this principle when he was having to run for his life from Absalom and a man was throwing dirt at him and cursing him. His men wanted to deal with the man but he refrained them saying: "Leave him alone you never know if God is in this". (My paraphrase) David probably knew he messed up with the way he handled his children. Absalom had killed his half brother Amnon for the rape of his sister Tamar. Absalom had fled and after three years was allowed to return but not see his father David. David could have handled the rape of Tamar and Absalom may have not plotted to kill his brother. Who knows!

Our own foolishness causes a lot of grief. Whilst we can be forgiven the seed remains in the soil and will bear fruit. We tend to forget this. Both good and bad seed bear fruit. The fruit often takes a long time ...but it comes.

During winter we had kangaroos come down on to our lawns to eat as the drought had taken their food. With them they brought seeds of weeds normally up on the hill. Now I am battling these weeds fully grown. I did not see the seeds but they were there. That is the thing with seeds we don't see or recognize them, but they are there.

We also pray for God's goodness and for miracles, these He provides freely. He is good! Amen!
