You Are a Light

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Look for opportunities to show forth Christ. What good can you become involved in? How can you help your community, your neighborhood?

The good that God wants to do in our world is at the mercy of us, His torches. Will we go and do and obey? Lighthouses were built in dangerous places to shine the way for incoming vessels. We live in dangerous times, where can we help? Who needs guidance in coming to land safely?

If we do not join in the immorality, lust and greed, surely that is a light; if we don't drink to excess surely that is a light; if our mouths are clean and gracious surely that is a light; if we feed the poor and help the elderly surely that is a light; if we share our faith in simple ways and are not afraid to confront injustice surely that is a light!
