Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. Galatians 6:7-10 HCSB
We all become weary and tired and especially for those who have been on the road a long time, it can be easy to be disillusioned and be tempted to quit. Before quitting I recommend you become refreshed in your first love and then make the decision.
During the week I met with such a group. They said: " If I dont have a job to do a church I am tempted not to go." The joy, the anticipation had gone.
Jesus dealt with such a church group in the book of Revelation. He commended all their works but told them they had lost their first love and told them to find it again or He would remove their lampstand. He went on to say:' to him who overcomes I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.'
What happens when the lampstand is removed? The light is gone and it is no longer an effective church. It is the same as when Jesus taught about salt and its effectiveness. If the salt is no longer salty it should be thrown out.
So...it behooves us to stay vital and alive and keep our fire burning. Amen!
