Love is Not Provoked

Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬5 HCSB

To provoke is to anger, enrage, vex or exasperate. Do you have anyone in your life like this?

People all around us and people suffer variously and therefore exasperate us with how they behave in their suffering, whether it be real or imaginary.

Yesterday I watched a miraculous deliverance. Well, I am being a little facetious. My elderly mother had, for a few weeks an annoying cough, nothing serious but it looked like it troubled her and her behaviour changed because of it. Upon visiting her doctor she was suddenly well. I was able to see externally what we all go through.

An annoying spirit keeps at our minds that we are dying from some horrible disease and it nags and nags us and we become burdened by the nagging. It is only when we visit our doctor and obtain sympathy or instruction as to how to progress the burden is lifted.

This is the same when we live in a world with others. We will have nagging suspicions or critical thoughts about a particular person but find, upon discussion we were wrong.

We have to remember we have an enemy who seeks to destroy our relationships. We cannot submit to him but rather fight for that person and refuse to listen to the criticism. Talking to the person involved and asking pertinent questions always helps.

Love bothers to ask questions and uncovers the truth. Why not bother? Communicate! Amen!
