Do Not Worry

“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25 HCSB https://bible.com/bible/72/mat.6.25.hcsb

There are many things that can trouble us and some are more vital than even food, drink or clothing: safety. We have people come to Australia to seek safety, a new home away from conflict and war. Some come here on whatever visas they can use and then seek to obtain permanence once here. Their plight is fraught with difficulties and obstacles.

I see, firsthand, the difficulties as God has given me the task of loving such people and helping them with their English. The road is difficult even if they have visas as to become a permanent citizen they must pass rigorous English exams. Many natural Australians would fail these tests. I wonder how many realise how fortunate they are?

Our bibles are full of stories about brave souls who sought a higher way, of those, such as Abraham, who travelled long distances in obedience to God's call. Displacement is not an easy road, assimilation into new cultures even harder.

My prayer for these people is that God will show the way and lead them on the right path. Amen!
