A humble position
“Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” Philippians 2:7-8 NLT Humility allowed Jesus to complete His mission. He agonised over the final act, He knew it would be painful and that He could not use His power to stop it. However, one of the very temptations Jesus faced at the beginning: throwing Himself from the temple so that a legion of angels would pick Him up, He refused and replied, “it is written, you shall not tempt the Lord Your God”! We will be tempted to use what God has given us to use in the service of His Kingdom, for ourselves or to arrogantly appear powerful and gain glory for ourselves.
