Words of Life

John 1:1-4 (MSG) The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. Our words reveal who we are. Jesus was the word of God to reveal the nature and character of God. God's word is full of life and that life creates light. The spoken word, is a word of life, when spoken in faith. That word creates illumination, understanding. I love to listen to the preaching of the word as I am hungry for the life it brings but also the illumination it brings to my mind. Of all words spoken in my day I hunger to live in the words of life and light. Blessed are you who preach the word and bring life and light to the world. The Ten Commandments begins with 'you shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, your whole soul and your whole mind'. I am learning to give the Lord my heart. I want to be moved only by His word about a thing, I am learning to give Him my mind and only believe what he says about a thin...

He alone is Lord!

1 Samuel 7:3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, 'if you are returning to the Lord your God with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods from among you and direct your hearts to the Lord and serve Him only, and He will deliver you. Again I am challenged regarding foreign gods. What are they? who are they? Fear of man? Fear of failure? Fear of success? Fear of sickness? fear of death? Success at my own hand? wanting a white knight to deliver me? Arrogance? rejection? These are ALL works of demons. They clamour for lordship. Yet my heart belongs to the Lord of Hosts, Mighty is His name, Son of Righteousness, King of kings, Lord of lords, The Great I AM says I am His, I am His, therefore He has done it all, I am blessed because of Him, His word is higher! His ways are higher! I lift up His word above ALL that would claim my worship and I say 'He alone is God, He IS GOD! Amen! My heart and my feelings will reflect Him, my feelings will obey Him, for He alone...

Different Words

Luke 1:20b .... but my words are of the kind which will be fulfilled in the appointed and proper time God's word is living and active. God's word never, perhaps I should say that again NEVER (pause) NEVER (pause) returns to Him void, it always, I think I should say that again, ALWAYS accomplishes THAT which it was SENT to do, may I say that again ALWAYS accomplishes. There is power in that word, there is anointing in that word for it is mighty, it was spoken by God and His words are words of life. My words are powerful and they are coveted by God and lusted after by Satan but he CAN"T have the word, he can listen to me praise my God and speak His word for His word is life and peace. When God says 'it is finished', it IS finished, for He alone is God and His word endures forever. My circumstances are changing, I am winning because I am blessed, I am blessed and highly favoured of the Lord. I am blessed because I am a child of God . My confession is 'it is wel...

Blessed

I went out full, but the Lord has brought me home again empty. Ruth 1:21 What a confession! How easy it is to look at our natural circumstances and set them in concrete by our confession. Fortunately for Naomi God did not heed her confession as He had a better plan. Naomi had gone out with a husband who thought it was good to live in a land of idolatry. This husband gave her two sickly children who eventually died. The sons married into the culture and it destroyed them. Naomi did return with a treasure, although she could not see it. She had Ruth, a woman of faith. Naomi's attitude got in the way. What have I got? A loving God, an ever present guide, a comforter, a faithful friend, a true husband, a lover, a powerful ally one who never sleeps, one who goes before me. I am blessed, I am blessed and highly favoured of the Lord. His word never changes, is ever true, He is great, He has abundance in His hands, He shares His glory with me, He surrounds me with His love, I am tru...

It is well!

There is not even one thing outside a man which by going into him can pollute and defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him and make him unhallowed and unclean. Mark 7:15 Yesterday I had a visit from one of Job's comforters and it left me covered with muck. This friend had know me for sometime and wanted to know how things were going. Oh Dear! I have to learn not to speak the things that are but the things unseen. How wiley is my enemy. Last night I had my first DivorceCare group for a while begin again. There were lovely souls desperate to find God there. My enemy wanted to dis-empower me, and although the class went well I was unempowered . It wasn't until this morning that I was free from the barb in my soul. As I awoke my enemy was the first there but my confession was 'it is well'. As I sang 'it is well' it became well. Coming to work I listened to brother Benny. He preaches about the Shunamite lady who had received a ch...

The Plan

Judges 20:28 (MSG) They asked, "Shall we again march into battle against the Benjaminites , our brothers? Or should we call it quits?" And God said, "Attack. Tomorrow I'll give you victory." Twice the children of Israel had been beaten by the Benjaminites and they wept before the Lord. Israel had gone out to the Benjaminites to revenge a sinful wrong done by loose men in their city, instead of turning over the wrongdoers the Benjaminites , puffed up in their pride, decided to fight. In the end all the Benjaminites lost their lives and the city was burned to the ground. Last night I was talking to a dear friend who was 'giving up' because of all that had come against her. I said to her 'how can giving up make things any better?' She agreed that it would not make life better. Instead she needed a strategy as did Israel. If our enemy uses all the strategies he has learned over the years why do we assume just wearing the name of Christian will su...

The Trap!

Luke 21:34 (MSG) "But be on your guard. Don't let the sharp edge of your expectation get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping. Otherwise, that Day is going to take you by complete surprise, spring on you suddenly like a trap... How easily we can be seduced. Just spend a week talking natural talk rather than faith talk and we find ourselves in the 'flesh'. Before we know it we are speaking against one another, puffing up ourselves and putting down others. This can happen in the midst of what appears great evangelism. This past week I was reeling in the fish but talking naturally. Yesterday I found my tongue sharper than it should be, with judgement in my heart. Yuck! A bit of self-righteousness there. My bible tells me a little leaven leavens the whole lump. A little bit of sin dirties the whole spirit. Ah! but the joy of repentance, how cleansing it is. Praise God for grace! I cannot live in the flesh but I must 'live in the zone', as Ps Phil Pri...

Who am I?

Then all the Midianites and the Amelekites and the people of the east came together and crossing the Jordan encamped in the valley of Jezreel . BUT the Spirit of the Lord clothes Gideon with Himself and took possession of him, and he blew a trumpet, AND the clan of Abrezer was gathered to him. Judges 6:33,34 Satan's horded will come in again and again BUT GOD will raise up His standard. This is precisely what God did, He chose the insignificant Gideon and clothed him with His spirit. Gideon had gone from a nobody to a man clothed with God's spirit. I love the way God works, I love watching Him choose His vessels. Gideon then sends messengers throughout all Manasseh, Asher, Zebulen and Naphtali and they came to him. Back comes doubt in verse 36 'If You will deliver Israel by my hand please confirm it with a sign.' I completely understand. A man who was threshing wheat in secret one minute is a deliverer the next, 'who am I', would be his constant though...

Hearing and Seeing

Judges 6:16 The Lord said to him, surely I shall be with you, and you shall smite the Midianites as one man. In other words, the Lord saw the hordes of Midianites as only one man, to Him it was 'easy peasy ', to Gideon it was more so. 'If now I have found favour in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talks with me.' Gideon is talking to an Angel of the Lord and it is a divine encounter but he doubts. I understand. I have had visitations of angels and I have doubted the word brought to me, I doubted my own ability to hear correctly and not be deceived. 'Is this You Lord?' has been my question.

Fear Not!

Judges 6:10 I am the Lord Your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites , in whose land you dwell. Who are the gods of the Amorites in whose land I dwell? The gods of my world are wealth, possessions and looking good. Like Gideon I can say 'why has all this befallen me?' The answer is because I fear the gods of the Amorites perhaps, perhaps my own naivety and foolishness. Yet when Gideon asked the question the Lord did not answer the obvious but instead spoke life. 'Go in this your might'. Again this word challenges me. 'You mighty woman of fearless courage.' we are starting a new DivorceCare group and I am awake early praying for souls. At the same time I am being transformed in my own world. The push is on again to 'give me mine Lord'. I must defeat the Midianites and destroy the gods of the Ammonites at the same time and take new territory. I am prophesying to my world and now I KNOW I have it's attention. Words of life changes things...

Seed

The Lord turned to him and said 'Go in your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of Midian . Have I not sent you?' Judges 6:14 I relate to Gideon very well. Many years ago the Lord spoke to me in a dream and told me I was a woman of faith. I am now becoming that woman. What is 'Your might'? I believe verse 12 tells us. 'And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, 'The Lord is with you, you mighty man of fearless courage.' This was a faith statement, a prophetic word spoken over Gideon, it was but a seed to Gideon, but God loves seeds. It found soil and the Lord watered the seed as He worked with Gideon until he believed. How God is my God! He has done this in me. I am speaking faith and understanding that I am creating a harvest of Righteousness. Yes!

Training

Judges 3:1-2 (MSG) These are the nations that God left there, using them to test the Israelites who had no experience in the Canaanite wars. He did it to train the descendants of Israel, the ones who had no battle experience, in the art of war. In my world there are things that I want to overcome and I know why I have not overcome them, because I lack the experience. My God skillfully trains me in the art of war. I cannot compromise and settle down and live with these enemies, as they would want me to. They must go. Who are they, blustering bullies who say 'you can't do that', 'that's not how we do things', etc. My vision will sustain me as I look to the Lord, I see the day when they are gone. each day I become stronger and each day I am closer to that day. Amen!

Small Things

Luke 16:10 (MSG) If you're honest in small things, you'll be honest in big things; I don't like this verse because it challenges me right to the core. Hebrews tells me in 4:12 God's word is sharper than a scalpel cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. I know the short cuts, the small things that I think don't matter yet they matter to God and the honouring of small things is what gets us promoted. The keeping of small, hidden, out of the public eye things are what He sees, what He is looking at. They show the depth of our character. Yes Lord Your word is true. I know what my small things are and I know what I must do to honour them, now I must obey. Amen!

Creative Survival

Luke 16:8-9 (MSG) "Now here's a surprise: The master praised the crooked manager! And why? Because he knew how to look after himself. Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way—but for what is right—using every adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you'll live, really live, and not complacently just get by on good behavior." I know streetwise people. They constantly twist and turn to make things fit. They have no conscience in what they do. Yet here I am being told to be streetwise but not twist but use adversity to stimulate me to creative survival. The challenge as Christians is to not become alley-cat because of adversity and lash out at anyone and everything but to allow our experience to humble us before God as we seek Him. As I seek my God through t...

The Path

Joshua 21:45 (MSG) Not one word failed from all the good words God spoke to the house of Israel. Everything came out right. Depending on our ability to stay focused and trust the Lord will depend on whether we see fulfillment of God's promises to us. God gives a promise, a vision but then all hell breaks loose to stop that vision because if we succeed then all will see the revealing of a 'son of God' and He will get the glory. It is so easy to assume that God has forsaken us when hell comes out to deter, the pain and anguish is huge, it comes from all sides and is relentless. Why is it so huge? Because hell knows the power in a 'son of God'. As I get closer to my provision I gain authority, I see clearer and I step out bolder, I am starting to stand and walk like a 'son of God'. My bible tells me 'all things are possible to him who believes.' The one who pays the price, walks close, stays focused begins to believe will do great things. I cannot...

Greater!!

Joshua 18:3 (MSG) Joshua addressed the People of Israel: "How long are you going to sit around on your hands, putting off taking possession of the land that God, the God of your ancestors, has given you? The land that we are allotted involves taking control of our passions and lusts, our lazy flesh, our attitudes. It involves taking hold of God-given vision and focusing on it and dealing with ALL that comes against that vision. The enemy will use everything he can; family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues , the media. Every where he can sow fleshly attitudes, arrogance, pride, anger, jealousy, envy he will go. My job is to keep looking at Jesus. He calls to me when an attack comes, 'look at me.' As I gaze on Him I trust, become calm and rest in the storm. Last night I watch Catalyst on the ABC and they did a report on Transcendental Meditation, it obviously works for those given to it but I have a beautiful saviour into who's eyes I can gaze, His word never f...

Who

Joshua 16:10 (MSG) But they didn't get rid of the Canaanites who were living in Gezer . Canaanites are still living among the people of Ephraim, but they are made to do forced labor. Our modern minds struggle with the extermination of races of people. Yet God told the Israelites to exterminate the people in the land He had given them for a very good reason. The Canaanites worshiped Baal, the sun god. This proved to be a stumbling block for the children of Israel. What do I have to destroy in my world? Not people but the attitudes of people that say 'you can't do that', 'I won't answer you and you have to go away', 'you are bad for wanting your freedom, I want you to stay the way you were, always at my beck and call', 'your not qualified', 'you're too old', 'you have no authority, go away'. ' blaa blaa blaa '. I have only one thing to say 'if God be for me then who?????? can be against me?' 'Get th...

MIne!

Joshua 14:10-12 (MSG) Now look at me: God has kept me alive, as he promised. It is now forty-five years since God spoke this word to Moses, years in which Israel wandered in the wilderness. And here I am today, eighty-five years old! I'm as strong as I was the day Moses sent me out. I'm as strong as ever in battle, whether coming or going. So give me this hill country that God promised me. You yourself heard the report, that the Anakim were there with their great fortress cities. If God goes with me, I will drive them out, just as God said." On Monday I spoke at a Probus club and one of the men in the audience is 96. He had spoken the week before and did not need notes. I had a great grandmother who live to 96, my great grandfather lived to 92, my great aunt to 94. I know that my mindset will determine my age and my posterity. God has land that He wants to give me and I have to rise up and say mine. As Caleb I must say I am as strong today as I was in my 20's and 30...

Who is the Judge?

Luke 12:4-5 (MSG)"I'm speaking to you as dear friends. Don't be bluffed into silence or insincerity by the threats of religious bullies. True, they can kill you, but then what can they do? There's nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands. Who is a religious bully? A self-righteous bully? A bully who believes that no one else is right and clutches at scripture to justify their stance. I look at the Lord, He is the judge, He alone is right, He alone is pure. Lord I watch for You, I seek Your hand. I find that people bully out of pain, perhaps they are struggling to hold their world together, themselves and in their struggle have lost sight of the way to freedom. Although I might understand the pain I cannot be made to submit to another god, the god of self. Papa set the captives free. Amen! Ah! The good news is that yesterday I spoke to about 20 men and was able to give them th...

Who do I empower?

Joshua 5:1 (MSG) When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and the Canaanite kings along the seacoast heard how God had stopped the Jordan River before the People of Israel until they had crossed over, their hearts sank; the courage drained out of them just thinking about the People of Israel. Our enemy is afraid of us discovering who we are in Christ but he also knows that when we sin we give him power. The children of Israel were told not to take anything from Jericho for themselves yet one man did. We are told not to take God's glory, we are told to put our God first and our neighbour second. It is so tempting to take the glory, first place and second if we have the chance. God wants the glory, it is His and His alone. God wants us to cover our brother's sin not expose it. Why if we expose it we look good in the eyes of our listeners. Love covers. Lord take me beyond the need to connect in such a way that I uncover others so that I can feel important.

My Song

Luke 10:18-20 (MSG) Jesus said, "I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky. See what I've given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God's authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that's the agenda for rejoicing." 'See what I have given you?' We must see, we must let vision hold us. The vision, God given, holds our confidence if we continue to look upon it as it is in His hands. He is there, at the end of the road. All hell tries to win our AWE but the Lord God Almighty must have it. Satan sends greater signs and greater troubles to win our awe but he must fail. I say 'bow to Christ, go to His footstool, enemy mine. I will not bow, I will not submit to your filthy dictates.' During the week, while I was enjoying...

Keep Going!

Joshua 1:7 (MSG) Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don't get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you're going. This past week I have been at Hillsong and unable to write my blog but hey what an encounter I have had. It was as if the whole conference was put on just for me, it ministered to me, loved me, healed me, restored me, blessed me. I made new friends, caught up with old friends and grew in God. I feel as if I am the young 19 year old who just got saved. It as if I have been born again, again. I have had a lot of wrong teaching and thinking washed out of me, I am freer than I have ever been, more whole and more focused . My favourite preachers were Judah Smith and T D Jakes . Judah's passion and love for God is TD's and mine. What a powerful young man. I saw a TD who is humble, loves words, as I do, loves the water, as I do and loves fami...

Power of Words

Deuteronomy 23:14 (MSG) God, your God, strolls through your camp; he's present to deliver you and give you victory over your enemies. Keep your camp holy; don't permit anything indecent or offensive in God's eyes. Last night I had a fresh revelation regarding the power of words. When I complain about my circumstances I rob myself of God's greatness and give power to a sour spirit. My words are so valuable, a gift from God. I must understand the power of words and walk in awareness of that power. With my words I must bless God and my neighbours, my family and friends and not lock anyone into bondage, even if they have wronged me. My words can allow them to find repentance and new life. My words must free myself and all around me, my words can create a bountiful harvest. Do I want weeds or wheat? My words can keep my spirit clean or pollute it. It is my choice. Today I must choose life. Amen!

Be Silent!

Luke 6:27 (MSG) "To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. Luke 6:44 (MSG) The health of the apple tells the health of the tree. You must begin with your own life-giving lives. I am learning not to spill the beans. Although someone may disappoint me or give me strong grief, my heart tells me 'don't blab'. ah but it's hard. We want to blab, blab, blab, vent, vent, vent. Yet Jesus is our example. He opened not His mouth when being abused and mistreated. Lord I ask for Your grace and strength and mercy. Amen! Lord give me a good report, let me sing of Your mercies forever. Amen!

The Deep

Deuteronomy 20:1-4 (MSG) When you go to war against your enemy and see horses and chariots and soldiers far outnumbering you, do not recoil in fear of them; God, your God, who brought you up out of Egypt is with you.......Don't waver in resolve. Don't fear. Don't hesitate. Don't panic. God, your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win." Luke 5:4 (MSG) When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, "Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch." I must be getting closer to my promise, all hell is breaking loose against me but I must remain focused. This past week has been like being caught in a tornado filled valley, bits of debris have been flying everywhere . All that has been promised looked as if it had been taken away, yet it wasn't . If I had packed up my toys and gone home I would have lost the day I am walking towards. The pressure has been enormous yet I kept looking down the road....

Do it right!

Deuteronomy 16:19 (MSG) Don't twist the law. Don't play favorites. Don't take a bribe—a bribe blinds even a wise person; it undermines the intentions of the best of people. It seems that our base nature loves to twist the law, we are constantly examining it for loopholes. What can I get away with, how can I avoid this penalty , this fine, this tax. Is there a legal way I can avoid paying my ex-spouse what is due to her/him? As Christians we have come to practice avoidance in so many areas that when we must honour our parents, our spouse our children we fail to do it God's way. Jesus took the Pharisees to task one time for they had worked out how not to pay what was due to parents, dedicate it to God. What a crummy attitude! The law confronts us, makes demands on us, reproves us. Because of injustice in those who administer the law we have come to disregard it, yet the law is perfect even when the administrators fail. Every time we are confronted by the law it would be...

Beating Bullies

Luke 4:18 (MSG) God's Spirit is on me; he's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free Yesterday, after having a great time in the spirit the day before, I walked into a wall of onslaught. I was threatened with bankruptcy because of the behaviour of another person. To say it took me by surprise is an understatement. I did the girl thing, I cried and cried. Then I sought counsel and did what I was told yet I was still left with the problem. I sought the Lord and He gave me a name and then the problem disappeared. I meet so many women who are left with a mess from a previous marriage, or they are manipulated by children in their singlehood . Us girls get left with a lot of mess to clean up sometimes. I am now on a quest for ways to deal with the bullies, bullies must bow to the name of Christ and we girls need to know how to deal with them without ...
