Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited,
Does not act improperly,
Is not selfish, is not provoked,
And does not keep a record of wrongs.
Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Cor 13:4-7
How do you stack up? Na! Neither do I. Perhaps that is why we need to walk in the Spirit, because He has it down pat. The scripture tells me: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Note: through Christ. Don't forget that bit.
Why must it be 'through Christ?' So He gets the glory. Because He can handle praise and I can't. He does not suffer with arrogance and pride. These are a part of the sin nature, He doesn't have one of those. Imagine being pure and without sin. I know, it is hard to imagine. Even on our best days we fail to reach the mark.
I saw a funny clip posted on Facebook today. The clip starts with African men high jumping and then the scene goes to a white male trying to jump a rope in a shop, the rope would have only been to his knee. He caught his foot, fell and pulled a whole display on top of himself. I laughed and laughed. This displays the difference between walking in the Spirit and walking (Mmmm! jumping) in the flesh.
Be of good cheer, He has overcome the world! Amen!
