My Part in the Body of Christ

For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body- so also is Christ. For we were all baptised by one Spirit into one body- whether Jew or Greeks, whether slave or free- and we're all made to drink of one Spirit. So the body is not one part but many. 1 Cor 12:12-14

How beautiful! We are in good hands. The Holy Spirit was involved in creation, isn't He able to bring into the body of Christ all that is needed? Paul goes on to say not one single part is more exclusive than the others. The body needs even the unseen internal organs to live. Food needs the smelly gut to extract the nutrients so that the eyes might shine all the brighter, the arms and legs function well, that calcium strengthen the bones that are covered by skin and support the stability of the whole body.

As a student of anatomy and physiology, a fascinating subject, I know how important all parts are, love them and appreciate them. Imagine being without the adrenal glands and being in danger, where would the adrenaline come from to move you quickly out of harms way? These glands sit on top of the kidneys and are unseen. In fact most of the vital  parts are unseen. This is how the body of Christ is, there are only a few that are seen but without the unseen, the seen would wilt and die.

Why struggle to be seen when you, as an unseen member, hold the seen together? Praise God for your part! Amen!
