The Gifts of the Spirit

Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God activates each gift in each person. A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial:
To one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit,
To another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit,
To another, faith by the same Spirit,
To another, the gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
To another, the performing of miracles,
To another prophesy,
To another, distinguishing between spirits,
To another, different kinds of languages,
To another interpretation of languages.
But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills. 1 Cor 12:4-11

The Holy Spirit has much to give, and I am sure that this list is not exhaustive. I cannot limit my God, He is beyond any box I would prepare for Him. My God created the vast universe, yet now we only inhabit a very small part of that. He has a plan for us to enjoy more of Him.

The gifts mentioned are wonderful to have and operate in. When I operate in my gifts I am a blessing and in turn I am blessed. Although Paul seems to indicate one gift per person this is not the case in reality, we can pursue them all, it depends on us and our faith. However we will shine in one of them if we flow with Him. I have operated in a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, I operate in healing of deeper parts of people and their physical bodies, I can distinguish spirits and prophesy I walk in faith. I have not done much in languages although I have my own prayer language and although I have seem miracles I don't see myself in that realm much.

Paul goes on to encourage the Corinthians to seek the gifts, especially that of prophesy. This would have further increased the pandemonium in the Corinthian church, which was quite unruly. They were a bunch of baby Christians fleshing it out mainly, they could have done wih a Paul onsite permanently.

No matter where we are in God we can seek Him for His gifts, He will sort things out as we grow.
