Isn't it amazing how our perspective about the effect we will have is so contained by our own judgement of our own past performance. Yet Paul is not remembered for the things he remembers, the persecution of the church, and yes that was horrible, but we treasure all his writings.
Perhaps the persecution was still tainting the then world, as we see today, it takes time for people who have been abused and mistreated to heal, some never do. We have the benefit of living thousands of years later, that is a long time later.
Paul goes on the talk about the 'grace' that was upon him. Each of us have a 'grace' from God. He has a task for each of us and His power is there for us to perform that task. I am called to build people and structures, the people being the most important.
Last night we had our Staff Christmas party and children came. They were the highlight of the night for me. I loved the little ones, looking inside their lives and seeing their characters. I enjoyed talking to the spouses of my team getting to know them. I came away blessed because I used my 'grace.'
Paul makes a point that the 'grace' towards him from God was not ineffective. In other words he knew what it was and he operated in it fully to the best of his ability. Grace is given for a purpose. We must find our grace and walk in it. Then we are truely satisfied. Amen!
