Judgement or Eternal Life
For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God. “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.
John 3:17-19 HCSB
Judgement and condemnation are big issues today. The church is accused of judging the world because it will not agree to lifestyle behaviours, mainly sexual. However, Jesus did not come to condemn, rather it is our behaviour that justifies or condemns us.
Do we love darkness more than light? Do we love the Son of God? Our deeds betray us. When we stand before God will we ridicule Him for not allowing us to live as we please or will we be in sync with all that He is because we have honoured Him and obeyed Him?
The above passage was spoken by Jesus Himself. If you read the full chapter He is not being judgemental but rather factual. The love of the Father sent the Son that whoever believes in God would pass from judgement into eternal life. The choice is always ours. Amen!
