What a Difference He Makes

God, how difficult Your thoughts are for me to comprehend; how vast their sum is! If I counted them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; when I wake up, I am still with You. God, if only You would kill the wicked — you bloodthirsty men, stay away from me — who invoke You deceitfully. Your enemies swear by You falsely. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.
Psalms 139:17‭-‬20‭, ‬23‭-‬24 HCSB

It is amazing that David thought it ok to write a Psalm to the Lord and close on the heals of his praise for God he was lamenting the presence of evil, bloodthirsty men, asking God to destroy them.

How would David handle Jesus' teaching about loving his enemy?“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?"
Matthew 5:43‭-‬46 HCSB

Jesus came with a whole new way of thinking. I am sure we also struggle with forgiving our enemies and those who persecute us. Why, how could they?

Why not let this same Jesus in and discover Him in the midst of your concerns and struggles? See what His presence brings, and live out of that. Amen!
