Flesh and Spirit

For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so. So then, brothers, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, for if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “ Abba , Father! ” The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children,
Romans 8:7‭, ‬12‭-‬16 HCSB

What is living in the flesh? We can look at what Jesus said:

“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19‭-‬21

Jesus goes on the say:

“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:25

So, worrying about stuff is not walking in the Spirit. Our God has the role of giving us all we need and so worrying about it will only distress us.
