The Same Resolve

Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, equip yourselves also with the same resolve — because the one who suffered in the flesh has finished with sin —
1 Peter 4:1 HCSB

Christ's suffering was extreme. When He knew the time was near He prayed with intensity, so intense was His prayer He sweated drops of blood. Yet He obeyed His Father and we benefit.

If we suffer, who will benefit? If we choose to follow the way of the cross, what will that cost? Perhaps a few meals, perhaps a lot more. Yet we have comfort in knowing our Lord went before us. He was obedient to death. Our death, ultimate death, will be inevitable but for now we can put to death our freshly desires and yield them to Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.

As the above scripture says it: the one who suffers in the flesh has finished with sin. Lay it down, come to the cross and see God move! May His kingdom come! His will be done! Amen!
