Living God's Way

But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified.
Galatians 5:22‭-‬23‭, ‬23‭-‬24 MSG

Living God's way. We find it as we slow down and listen. We cannot hear if we are racing and busy inside. We are having a heat wave here in Australia. It is soooooo hot and there is little reprieve. Sunset to sunrise is the only time to be out and about. This gives us plenty of time to reflect and be quiet (those of us that are able, that is).

My city is filled with an extra 20-30,000 people who have come for country music. They are nuts! Living in tents and caravans in the heat. Yuck!

I had anticipated a quiet and slow start to the day. However, 6:39 saw my elderly mum sitting on my bed wanting a back scratch and talking of going shopping, early. Groan!

We went shopping and were home by 10am. The remainder of the day was spent indoors in air conditioned comfort. It is now 6:30pm and I have a dog scratching at my thigh wanting to go out for a walk, in the heat. The heat will not abate until sunset and maybe not then. He has no chance, well not much!

We all have those who demand our time. We are constantly having to evaluate the importance of these demands and making sure we make time to hear from God. What is He saying? His opinion is just as important as all the others, even more so.
