Better Work

Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

What is God's plan? When Jesus came to earth He disputed the plan in place: that Israel would be segregated, holy and not touching anything unclean, that sickness, demonization would be the norm and the righteous were self-made religious bigots.

What is God's plan today? Jesus taught us to pray: may Your kingdom come, Your will be done. Forgive us as we forgive, keep us from evil, please provide for our daily needs.

Jesus also taught that we should love God with all our hearts, souls and minds and love others as we love ourselves.

These two Tennants are a good place to start. The kingdom to Jesus is epitomised by Him calling Matthew to follow Him and sitting at table with Matthew and other tax collectors. The tax collectors were not considered righteous. The Pharisees criticized Jesus for this but Matthew wrote the gospel of Matthew and was an integral part of the kingdom.

So....how do we do 'kingdom'? Differently! Get involved in community! Get outside of yourself and your bubble! Amen!
