Dark times

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This passage, and  in fact the whole chapter is a promise of restoration and healing for the children of Israel. However, us Christians also take it to heart.  Each of us will suffer in some way, but the Lord promises to be with us as we go through dark times.
The part about walking through the fire is reminiscent of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3. They offended Nebuchadnezzar by not bowing to his idol and were thrown into a fiery furnace. However, the fire did not touch them and in fact Jesus showed up with them. This caused Nebuchadnezzar to praise the Lord God and promote the young men.
When we go through dark times they are not wasted. God uses them for a purpose. They touch hearts and convict the persecutors. We must trust God! Amen!
