Worthy is the lamb

“He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.”Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reading this scripture today my heart has questions: why did the Father choose to sacrifice His Son? Why did Jesus agree to be sacrificed? I cast my mind back to Genesis and see Abraham do the same thing to Issac his son. God had told Abraham to sacrifice his son and God withheld the knife at the very end. As Issac was just like us, what made him submit in obedience? Did he pray as Jesus did three times for a different way? We are not told he did, however, as he was a prototype of Jesus it is highly likely.

The Father gave free will to His creations, the angels had this and pride entered Lucifer’s heart, he led a third of the angels in rebellion and was cast out of heaven. God gave us the same free will and we were enticed, by Satan (Lucifer) to sin. Mankind thus inherited a sinful nature and needed saving.

Jesus came to earth, at the right time, and walked among us to show us what God was like. The picture was gracious and loving. Yet, the sacrifice still needed to be given. The hardness of the hearts of the Jewish leaders showed how far pride had come. Jesus’ death was at the hands of the hard hearted Pharisees and Saducees, and the whimpy crowd. By His death Jesus tore up Satan’s right over creation and freed us from the path of damnation.

We now need to receive Him as the way, the truth and the life. Asking forgiveness for sin and power to walk for Him. Amen!
