Today I had an opportunity to test this in my own life. After lunch I lay down for a Sunday afternoon nap and my brother, who does not nap, decided to move furniture, making a huge racket waking me prematurely. I struggled with annoyance until I started to praise. Mind you, to praise cost me as it was the last thing I wanted to do but the first thing I needed to do. It worked, of course, and so was able to get over my attitude.
