Seeing Sin in Others

Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won’t be tempted. Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But each person should examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else. For each person will have to carry his own load.
Galatians 6:1‭-‬5 HCSB

Restoring others is a part of our mandate to set captives free. Restoring others can take time, perseverance, prayer and fasting. In other words effort. I see far too many bold posts on Facebook about cutting difficult people out of our lives. Where is the grace and mercy in this? Where is the fight for their freedom?

We tend to talk about those caught and be cross with their behaviour. Yet this does nothing to set them free. Prayer and petition sets them free. Our God is a deliverer and we want Him glorified not self righteousness. We have in our hands tools to set the captives free: prayer and petition.

If we stop criticising long enough and look at ourselves before God then we will give up our sinful pride and give God room to change us into intercessors for others. When we see a fault or a problem, time to pray! Amen!
