When the Glory shows Up

When Solomon finished praying, fire descended from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests were not able to enter the Lord ’s temple because the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the Lord . and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:1‭-‬2‭, ‬14 HCSB

God shows up with His glory in answer to someone's heartfelt prayer and obedience. At the time of building the new temple Solomon was passionate to build God's house and fulfil his father's wishes to create God's house. He was a new king and had a desire to do it right. David had a passion for God and wanted to build Him a house. I wonder if God showed up out of honour for David or for both David and Solomon?

We know David pursued God almost all His 70 odd years, whereas Solomon pursued other gods as he married more foreign women. Psalms is full of David's heart for His God and when He sinned we see his repentance. Solomon grew old and disillusioned. Not quite the same. Solomon's wisdom did not save him whereas David pure love for God did.

As we study great revivals and great men and women of God we see a common thread: where God is the passion and pursuit He comes. Having experiences revival twice I can say it is the best time when God's glory shows up. Amen!
