The Word of God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1:1‭-‬5 HCSB

Jesus was called the 'word' of God because He came and spoke the words of God. The book of Revelation calls Him 'the word of God:'

He wore a robe stained with blood, and His name is the Word of God.
Revelation 19:13 HCSB

In the above scripture John 1, John is saying Jesus was always there with God the Father. If He was with God in the beginning of creation then it stands to reason He was involved in that creation: 'and God said let there be...'

We are not expressly told why Jesus is called 'the word', however we can look at what He displayed and what He said. Jesus said He came to reveal the Father. So, if we see Jesus we see the Father.

Jesus was so different to the God image that Israel had of Him. They only knew Him through the law. We can know Him through a family relationship for we are called 'sons of God.'

The New Covenant made all things new. What joy!
