What is Better Than Sacrifice?

Doing what is righteous and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. The lamp that guides the wicked — haughty eyes and an arrogant heart — is sin.
Proverbs 21:3‭-‬4 HCSB

Doing good needs to come from a heart towards God or we claim the glory. If it is God iniated and God motivated then I am good with that. If it is emotionally manipulated or driven I want out.

Doing good apart from God allows us to elevate ourselves and rail against His ways. So many who do not know Christ do good but when they stand before the Father, all that matters will be: "What did you do with MY Son?" They will be horrified to find all they have done is worthless in eternity if not done through Christ.

Paul says it Well in 1 Corinthian 13:3:
And if I donate all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

The love Paul speaks about is the God kind of love, agape love, not emotional love. Whilst emotional love is better than total disregard, ignoring Him and leaving Him out of the equation sees us both on different paths. Jesus is interested in working with us from now through eternity. His love for us desires our companioship.

However fighting for justice is right and just. I cannot go my way and ignore the plight of those being abused and used by evil men. I must defend the weak and lowly, care for His sheep.

Throwing dollars is a quick fix, what does the long term look like, what will lift up and empower the weak?
