Forgiving

If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen. And we have this command from Him: The one who loves God must also love his brother.
1 John 4:20‭-‬21 HCSB

This scripture is a filter for us: do I really know what love is? Jesus taught us that love forgives. When told this the disciples asked how many times should we forgive, seven times? Jesus surprised them by saying 70 x 7. In our modern world this concept is foreign.

Therefore, according to Jesus: love forgives. Paul tells us in 1 Cor 13 that: love endures long, love is patient and kind, it does not keep a record of wrongs. Hold it right there. Do you remember all the wrong done to you? Have you forgiven the perpetrator of this wrong? Perhaps it is time to forgive.

In the Lord's prayer we are taught to ask daily for forgiveness, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Now, back to the memory of wrong done. When you talk about wrong done is the memory unforgiving? If so perhaps it is time to forgive.

Prayer: Dear Jesus I ask for forgiveness for holding on to unforgiveness. Please cleanse me, forgive me as I now forgive. Amen!
