He Provides

But He answered, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Matthew 4:4 HCSB

What did He answer? Who did He answer? Jesus had just fasted for 40 days amd nights and was hungry. At the end of this time Stan came and tempted Him to turn stones into bread. Satan wanted Jesus to use His power for selfish gain. I dont know about you but I would have been tempted as well. After fasting for that period of time I would be hungry. Yet Jesus was trusting His Father for provision which did indeed come when He had dealt with Satan.

Jesus could not use His power to save Himself. He had come to depend on the Father. Adam was likewise tempted by Satan and yielded to the liar and gave up fellowship with God and favour, all for knowledge. Satan wanted to destroy the second Adam and attempted to seduce Him with fleshly appetites.

God wants our fellowship and communion. He wants to be our provider and our all. We cannot resort to our ways of self-provision. As we trust God He provides our every need. It may be through our employment or a generous brother or sister.

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask for our daily needs.

Prayer: dear Jesus today we ask for your abundant provision. Thank You that Your gifts are abundant towards us. Amen
