Rest

And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
Ephesians 6:10‭-‬12 MSG

No backyard footy match, no Sunday afternoon cricket match, life is full on and in your face. The battles we face are not with people, although that is where they happen. People are manipulated by our enemy to dump ice on us, drive over us and generally ruffle our feathers.

This happened to me today. Lovely brothers rock up on their motor bikes and use parking best designated to the elderly, leaving the elderly in a difficult spot. I spoke to the perpetrators but my challenge was my own attitude. Jesus told us to be angry but don't sin. There's the rub!

After this I was at home and received a phone call from a well meaning friend who reported a possible problem. I said to the Lord: "It's yours, I will rest." I slept and dreamed about the incident and woke disturbed. I had to fight for the rest. I went to church and the problem dissolved.

I am determined to rest and allow God to sort things out. There is a battle in rest but it is worth it. Make rest in worship the prize.
