The Day of the Lord

Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance. But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness
2 Peter 3:8‭-‬11 HCSB

Peter, in his letter, is dealing with false prophets and scoffers, whilst encouraging believers to walk a holy and blameless life. We ourselves live in the time of the scoffer. All that is godly and of good repute is made out to be evil and of Ill repute. Life previously considered precious and protected is now able to be legally destroyed. Both in America and here in Australia government seeks to pass bills allowing the killing of babies in the womb up to birth and now even at birth if they do not please.

How can we, God's people allow this? It is time to stand up and proclaim the truth and be the lights we are called to be.
If Jesus returns today, what report will we give? To falsely believe that He will not return and that our misdeeds are secret are foolish. We must live as if He has called ahead to tell us of His arrival. He is coming and we must be ready.

Prayer: Lord Jesus forgive us our slackness and unbelief. Help us live for You and Your kingdom. Amen!
