He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:7-8 HCSB
Right up to this event- the ascension of Jesus did the disciples persist with their hope: the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. The man had his eyes on an earthly kingdom and Jesus had His eyes on the heavenly kingdom.
We persist in our hopes and dreams and God has a higher purpose- His kingdom.
We can be certain God has a plan for our lives- the propagation of the gospel and the making of disciples. He is not into creating a kingdom for us, to spoil us and see us tied up with our eyes on earthly things. His kingdom has a higher purpose, always.
May Your kingdom come, Your will be done! Amen!
