That’s why I don’t think there’s any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times. The created world itself can hardly wait for what’s coming next. Everything in creation is being more or less held back. God reins it in until both creation and all the creatures are ready and can be released at the same moment into the glorious times ahead. Who remembers joyful anticipation in childhood? Most of us do. Christmas is a big one. The night before Christmas children struggle to sleep as they lie awake wondering what they will receive for Christmas.
I am 65 amd still have these memories. I remember waking up some time after midnight and sneaking out to the Christmas tree and feeling all the presents to see if I could guess what they were.
Adults need to foster anticipation more. It tends to wane after the children come and we settle into 'normal living.'occasionally a holiday comes along when families can go to an exotic destination, full of adventure.
However many, instead, settle for routine and regularity. Anticipation is lost.
Yet as a Christian every day is new. Why not ask the Lord for surprise tomorrow! Try it! He might just surprise you in a very unique way. He is good!
All the earth is waiting! Don't disappoint it!
