My aim is to evangelise where Christ has not been named, so that I will not build on someone else's foundation, but as it is written: 'Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand. Acts: 15:21 It was the final night for the current session in DivorceCare last night and we saw two young girls give their hearts to the Lord, we prayed for another woman who had been diagnosed with a bowel tumor (this is becoming our speciality, last two healed) and the Holy Spirit was there to save. The remaining participants agreed that the course had changed how they thought about their experience and gave them tools to move on. I was ready to say 'no more DivorceCare', as I have become weary in the task and had not seen results. I wonder what results I wanted? we have seen two healed from bowel cancer, many come to Christ. I have become disappointed with the lack of support and the critical few. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong direction....

Testimony with Great Power

And the apostles were giving testimony with great power to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. Acts 4:33 Testimony with great power is what I seek. I want the gospel to be filled with power to set captives free. I see people walking in blindness going their own way refusing the message spoken. Lord have mercy! I have a friend who is in a lot of pain but is cynical towards the power of the gospel and therefore chooses to seek help outside the church. What am I missing? I look at my message and that of the apostles and see the difference, the power of God is missing. Before the Holy Spirit fell the apostles had a testimony but were told to wait. I want my friend to be set free from pain, what can I do? I will seek the Lord! He alone has the power to save, deliver, set free. So if the church lacks the power what should it do? Seek the Lord! I long for the fresh wind, the presence of God. I am over meeting for meeting sake. Last night at church I ...

Boldness and Power

And now Lord consider their threats, and grant that your slaves may speak Your message with complete boldness, while You stretch out Your hand for healing, signs, and wonders to be performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus. when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak God's message with boldness. Acts 4: 29-31 Peter and John had been imprisoned for being a vessel through which the Lord healed someone, they were then set free because the Lord's boldness came upon them and the leaders had nothing to say. Now the team were encouraged and met and prayed for more. Now they knew how God wanted to move, what He wanted to display His greatness and they were asking for more. The key was finding out how the Holy Spirit wanted to move. Before the Holy Spirit showed up they were ordinary folk looking for the path, sound familiar? So what did they do? Sought the Lord. He showed up and...

My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing  I lack. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He renews my life; He leads me along the right path for His name's sake. Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff- they comfort me. You prepare a table before me In the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil My cup overflows. Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me All the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live. amen! I hear the song 'Salvation Belongs to Our God'. The above Psalm speaks of the Lord's salvation, enduring love and protection. Yet words cannot describe how good He is. As I rest in Him being GOD I go to Him for all my fears, all my needs and say 'I want to see You'! Daily there are new challenges as my enemy does not want me to possess what has been promised, to be safe in the Lord'...

How Great?

When they heard this, they all raised their voices to God and said, "Master, You are the one who made the heaven, the earth, and the sea, and everything in them.  Acts4:24 What was 'this'? It was the report that the religious leaders had tried to find fault with Peter and John after the lame man was healed, and could not. A good report increased faith in those that heard it. How good is the message of life? Conversely how bad is the message of the doomsday soothsayer? I meet so many of the 'well I don't know' types. I have to watch my own confession when around them. I have just had the best week in Sydney. Finally I have completed all my training and today received my own Financial Planner number from ASIC (Australian Securities and Investment Commission - they govern a lot of the business and financial markets in Australia). Wooohoo! While at the airport waiting for my flight I had a cuppa with a few of the men who also did the course. It was interestin...

Boldness

When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realised they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 When the Holy Spirit pours out on people boldness results. Boldness does not have to be accompanied by education or training, it has to be accompanied by faith. Faith steps out and boldly proclaims. Faith is a part of a package and that package is the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. If I go the the shop and buy a barbeque package in it is all I need to have a good, tasty barbeque (sausages, steak, rissoles etc) When I go to God and fellowship Him He has gifts for me to take into my world. The cost has been paid, yet hunger and desire are needed. Back to the barbeque package. I may go into the shop and look at the product, I might be very hungry but leave because I don't believe I can have what I want. With God I need to be hungry and believe I can have what I want. His product is there, all ready to go, why would ...

Reveal Yourself Lord!

Why should the nations ask where is their God? Psalm 79:10 Lord as our earth is consumed with tales of Your coming and fear of the end, visit us Lord, Send Your Holy Spirit to wash hearts and minds Bring fresh revelation of the reality of who You are. Our earth needs to know you It teeters on the brink of destruction of it's own doing. Filth litters our streets Sin is rampant It is time for us to see You be great. My heart longs for a revealing of Your greatness, Your beauty, Your majesty. Hear the cry of hearts wanting to know their God We are powerless to help unless You are with us. 'Come now is the time to worship, Come now is the time to seek Your God' (song) Pour out a longing for You Call hearts and minds to seek Your face. Send Your wind Holy Lord Show all men who You are, Amen!

He Reigns

And a man who was lame from birth was carried there and placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so he could beg from those entering the temple complex, he asked for help. Acts 3:2 This man had been there every day of his adult life. The disciples would have known him as a part of the furniture, yet today was different. On this day the Holy Spirit would reach out through the disciples and touch him a way beyond his wildest dreams. This day was the beginning of a whole new life for him. This day He would meet his saviour. I have seen many trapped in the cripple experience, the crippled body. Yet for everyone there is a day. I have the Holy Spirit residing in me. What does He want to do through me? Today? What was happening in the disciples lives at that time? They were experiencing an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. What caused that? Hunger? Waiting? The message in my world is 'this is all there is no miracles here, God is dead'. The same message is constantly...

Gentle Warrior

Tell daughter Zion, "Look your king is coming to you. gentle, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden." Matthew 21:5 Israel was expecting a warrior king, a deliverer and that is what they got but His warfare was in the spirit and He came to set their souls free from prison, so they failed to recognise Him. In 2 Kings 6:17 the King of Syria came down to destroy Elisha but Elisha knew who was with him. His servant was troubled and Elisha prayed 'open his eyes Lord that he may see'. The hills around Elisha were filled with the chariots of the Living God. Jesus came gentlly to the lost but to the spirit world he was a lion. He was mounted on a colt, an untried beast, the child of a beast of burden. He is coming to the lost, not as they expect but as they need him to be. The lost view things of God as a burden full of law but He is light and full of grace. He said 'take my yoke upon you, my yoke is easy and my burden is light'. (...

Debts Forgiven

Our Father in Heaven, Your name be honoured as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13 Yesterday, in the blog Fruit of Forgiveness, I mentioned the need for myself to show fruit that meant I had forgiven my ex-husband. I had said I would call him and I did. We had a good, lively conversation in which he welcomed me to call him any time. I suppose because of the fact that I had thought I had forgiven and discovered there was bits still lingering I chose to again study forgiveness because the channel out of which the Holy Spirit flows in my life must be free of rocks and I sensed I had a rock blocking the way. In my study bible the footnotes indicate that the original Greek grammar indicated that the disciples ...

Fruit of Forgiveness

So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off the father saw him and was filled with compassion.Luke 15;20 Now his older son was in the field; as he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. Luke 15:25 Then he became angry and didn't want to go in. so his father came out and pleaded with him.' Luke 15:28 We mostly hear about the wayward son and his sin and eventual repentance. However the son that remained and had to struggle with perhaps lack of funds because of his wayward brother, perhaps he had to carry a greater load, also had an issue. While the brother was away I suppose as he cared for the flocks and tilled the ground the faithful son would have thoughts about what he might like to say to his brother, perhaps he grieved, perhaps he was angry. Last night at DivorceCare we all got talking and I was asked questions about my Ex-husband. My replies must have sounded sharp as one participant said to me 'but what if he has rep...

Salvation

Everyday they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, praising God and having favour with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved. Acts 2:46,47 As I read the above scripture I remember the time of my salvation. It was in a period of time when the Holy spirit was being poured out. There were many young people around my age, which was 19, being saved. An air of freshness was pervading everything. The joy of my salvation caused me to shine and I witnessed to all who came across my path because I had found the Jesus I had searched for for 15 of my 19 years. I was not alone, many young people shared my joy. We ran a coffee shop on Saturday nights. We had a team praying in the prayer closet, a team in the coffee shop and a team who went down town to reach out to the lost. On the Friday night we had bible study and not content ...

Miracles and Generosity

Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Acts 2:43 'Then' is the operative word here. It refers to the passage before which states 'and they devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching, to the fellowship, to breaking of bread, and to prayers.' Hunger for God produces miracles, God inhabits the praises of His people. When hungry people seek God, He is delighted and He comes. The following verse says 'now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as everyone had a need.' Generosity is another side benefit of the presence of God. When we are soaked in Him 'the things of the world grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace'. (song) We cannot willfully replicate what happened in the above verses because then it is a man-made institution and what we read about was God inspired. We mu...

Be Free!

Be saved from this corrupt generation. Acts 2:40b Isn't it amazing that Acts refers to a corrupt generation and there is also a cross reference to Deuteronomy 32:5. In fact God wiped out the whole lot not far out from Adam and saved only Noah's family. So what is the corrupt generation? Could it be that it is the group of people who follow the crowd and do the worldly thing rather than seek the Lord? We still have corruption so I guess we still have not realised that the only way to life is through Jesus Christ. Constantly I am given choices. Will I solve this with worldly wisdom? Yesterday my presence was requested by my previous employer and he laid down the law about something I had freely given making out that what he said was correct. I know it was all bluff and intimidation. Yet it still made me angry. When angry which way will we solve our problems? The worlds way is to fight fire with fire. God's way is 'vengeance is mine says the Lord.' I am working...

The Promise

For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off. As many as the Lord God will call. Acts 2:39 What is the promise? Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Our modern day promise is empty. It is used vainly, yet our God is unchangeable, He does not lie. He does not change His word with the wind, He is steady and constant. In Him I can trust. As I stand in faith for my children and grandchildren I know He honours me and will bring salvation to pass. My God is ever active calling the lost to repentance, His salvation goes forth, His Holy Spirit ever working, wooing, winning souls for the Kingdom. No matter what seems to be, He is there. As you pray release the Holy Spirit, send Him forth to minister. My bible tells me that whatever I loose on earth is loosed in heaven. I am a vessel for the Holy Spirit, I must pour Him out for the salvation of many. Open your eyes and see who you are, see as God sees. He is GOD not god! He is greater than...

What Must we do?

'... what must we do?' 'Repent', Peter said to them, 'and be baptised, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the Holy Spirit.' Acts 2:37b,38 Constantly we are at the cross-roads. What will I do? Which well will I draw from? Truth comes to us giving us opportunity to choose. It comes so often we fail to see before us. If we are not sensitive to truth we miss it's purity. When Moses had to confront Pharaoh and was constantly rejected he had a choice. How will I deal with this? Will I remind this guy that we are related? Will I draw on my knowledge of the palace, or those in it? Moses returned to the Lord. He complained to Him, not to the people he was trying to liberate, he did not sit down with his brother and strategise. Choosing truth brings us to repentance, our attitude is eternally ruffled by the behaviour of others. Yesterday, the day after giving notice at work, I sensed a finality and the...

He is Lord!

Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainity that God made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah. Acts 2:36 To ALL critics of the deity of Christ, read and believe. God is in charge not your opinion. Amen! Being made Lord is no small thing. If the Father declared to Jesus: 'Sit at my right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool', then a greater force is at work here that mere opinion can  counter.   Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne and unto the lamb, praise and glory wisdom and strength, honour and power and strength.(revelation 7:10; 12:10) He is Lord! He conquered sin and death. He rules, He is returning again. Let each one of us know 'He is Lord' He is greater than all the works of darkness, He paid the price, He owns the victory. If I train long and hard for the Olympics and consequently are chosen to represent my nation and then I run the race and win the medal, the medal is mine. No one can take it aw...

He is Exalted

Therefore, since He (Jesus) has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, He has poured out what you both see and hear. Acts 2:33 The price for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was death. Jesus died to break the old and introduce the new. The new involved God living in us. The world experienced Christ living amongst them but now the Holy Spirit would inhabit the believer. When the Holy Spirit inhabited the believer signs and wonders resulted. The disciples had no more power over how the Holy Spirit would behave or the gifts He would endow than they had on preventing Christ from going to the cross. They would walk and speak differently. They had a power and boldness they previously did not have. These disciples hid behind Jesus, relied on His presence. They now are walking in their own experience. They have come of age. Jesus said to them, ‘in my name you will do…….’ However, until the Holy Spirit fell they did not have ...

Whose Report Will You Believe?

He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay. God has resurrected this Jesus, we are all witnesses of this. .Acts 2:31,32  After Jesus rose from the dead we have one account as to where He opened the scriptures to two of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. It can be supposed He did the same to the rest. He needed them to finally tie all the scripture together and see the full picture. Peter's preaching seems to indicate that he had finally 'got it'. Ah the joy of revelation. Waiting, against the belly full of emotion, the 'I don't get its', the frustration, the blackness, the pain and anguish is worth it when revelation comes. Job had such an experience. He did not understand all that came upon him. His so called friends admonished him that he really must have been a bad boy for all this calamity to occur. Job did not have the ability to see into the spirit realm. Satan, his accuser was parading himself before the Lord, strutting like ...

Paths of Life

You have revealed the paths of life to me; You will fill me with gladness in Your presence. Acts 2:29 Jesus trusted His father, because of the relationship the father revealed the paths of life to Him. Those who trust the Lord and put their utmost faith in Him, He loves and reveals more of Himself to. Moses loved the Lord and refused to move unless the Lord's presence went with Him. Moses desire for the Lord caused him to be invited up onto the mountain top to spend 30 days with Him. David loved the Lord and constrained himself to live God's ways, to wait for the Lord. Because he loved the Lord, the Lord revealed Himself to him. What about us?We are new covenant believers and have the spirit of Christ dwelling within us. We have the victorious Lord dwelling within. Last night I slept over at my son's home and this morning my eldest grandson Myer wanted me to read his bible to him. We were reading about the Israelites building God a tabernacle in the desert, to live in. ...

My God!

For David said of Him: I saw the Lord ever before me; because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced. Acts 2:25,26 David originally wrote the above in Psalms 18:8-11 but he died, he was prophesying about the saviour. Our Lord went to the cross, as horrible as it was, keeping His eyes fixed on His Father who was ever before Him. Yes when sin was placed upon Him He cried out 'my God my God why have You forsaken me', but that was for you and I, and He rose again. I am in Christ and although stuff comes against me I can keep my eyes fixed on Him. He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Yesterday I saw how God was using one man as my shield, in one part of my life. I could see the burden he carried for me and knew My God was at work. Last night one of my grandsons had a febrile convulsion (a fever induced fit). I did not fear but stood in battle array against my enemy, at 10.30 in the evening that same grands...

Evil Men

Though He was delivered up according to God's determined plan and foreknowledge you used lawless people to nail Him to the cross and kill Him. God raised Him up ending the pains of death, for it was not possible for Him to be held by it. Acts 2:23,24 HCSB I remember the first time I read in Proverbs 'even evil men as used by God for a purpose.' The above scripture indicates this. I am aware that so many times 'evil people' will do things in my life that hurt, shatter, destroy but as I run to my God He turns it all around for my good. I have to remember that He resurrects, He lifts up, He is God not my enemies, if I only keep my attitude right and release Him. I am constrained by the attitude of Jesus on the cross, 'Father forgive them, for they know not what they do'. Evil people can be family and friends who get their knickers in a knot and take out their sin on you and me. Evil people are ordinary people who indulge in evil. As I trust Him, and wait...

Hope is Coming

I will display wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below; blood and fire and a cloud of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and remarkable Day of the Lord come. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2:19-21 (HCSB) Already this year is being called the year of devastation and many wonder 'is this the end?' I have seen the sun turned to darkness as in an eclipse, I have seen the moon turn to blood after fires. Yes there is similar reference to this and more in Revelation 6:12 and in Matthew, Peter and others. But what interests me is the last verse above 'then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved'. We are entering such a time. The Holy Spirit is being poured out. Hope is coming for us. I sense the same spirit that I knew when I was first saved in 1974. A new beginnings spirit, a freshness, a back to basics revival is coming. In 1974 I had my first pastor Bil...

The Plan

and it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My spirit on all humanity; then your sons ans daughters will prophesy, your young men  will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. I will even pour out my Spirit on My male and female slaves in those days and they will prophesy. Acts 2:17,18 (HCSB) Peter was preaching to the crowd who thought they were drunk because of their behaviour. What I think is interesting is the fact that God makes special mention about slaves. By His comment He is lifting them up, removing the stigma associated with slavery. Have you ever thought 'i am only just....' If God can reach out to slaves who were treated like cattle and lift their heads out of the dirt and honour them the same as their master what does that say about you? In God's economy the slaves in His Kingdom are those who willingly sacrifice, there is no enforced labour here. Stuff happens in life and for some a lot of horrible, bad stuff happens that mea...

Miracles

Acts 2:5-8 (MSG) There were many Jews staying in Jerusalem just then, devout pilgrims from all over the world. When they heard the sound, they came on the run. Then when they heard, one after another, their own mother tongues being spoken, they were thunderstruck. They couldn't for the life of them figure out what was going on, and kept saying, "Aren't these all Galileans? How come we're hearing them talk in our various mother tongues? , In an outpouring of the Holy Spirit miracles flow. Our God knows what is going on, who will be impacted by those miracles and who will be open to Him. The men who heard the disciples speak in other languages were devout pilgrims, they were already hungry. The Holy Spirit knows how to attract a crowd, 'they came on the run.' The Holy Spirit knows the key to unlocking hearts. What then do I need to do? watch the Holy Spirit, seek Him, seek His presence and give Him freedom to move as He sees fit, not constrain Him. I have g...

Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1-4 (MSG) When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.  If we wait for Him, He will come. Not on our terms but His. So often we pray directive prayers, He likes open prayers so He can surprise us. I am sure the disciples did not expect the mighty rushing wind nor the tongues of fire or indeed the speaking of tongues. On Saturday night I had dinner with a girlfriend who the Holy Spirit is wooing to Christ. She grew up in an atmosphere of law and she still struggles against it. Grace is foreign to her. She wanted to know if I prayed in tongues as her previous religion had a dim view on that. She had come to church with me a few times and I am sure...

The New Way

Acts 1:14 (MSG) They agreed they were in this for good, completely together in prayer, the women included. Also Jesus' mother, Mary, and his brothers. Change and unification had occurred. The motley band of believers were becoming the arrow tip. They decided that they were in this new way, the christian way for good. They were of one mind in prayer. The women had won their place in their midst. At last Jesus' brothers believed. Jesus had left a solid core. He had won over death and shown himself to be who He had declared He was all along. He had left a deposit of life, an understanding of the ways of the Father. Now it was up to the disciples, it was their turn to wait upon the Lord for His power. Now they would own their experience. It would no longer be, we are disciples of Jesus, it would be we know the one because He has visited us personally. It is important that we wait for the Lord, that we find Him for ourselves and receive what He has promised. When we own the ex...
