Fear God and…

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This scripture is true but makes it sound so mechanical and cold. We are to love God with al our hearts, souls and minds and love others as we love ourselves. Loving God like this, with our all is putting Him first above all else. Loving others as ai love myself is the big challenge as I love myself and think about the world through a view of how it impacts on my life. We seriously love ourselves a whole lot! Loving God is loving my Heavenly Father, my wonderful saviour Jesus and the blessed Holy Spirit who lives in me. All three are mine to fellowship.  I am blessed to have this connection through accepting Jesus as my saviour. Jesus fills my heart with love for others. He is good and His goodness is mine. Amen!

Be a blessing

“Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!” Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬ I have good friends in Nepal caught in bad weather situations. Roads are washed away, houses damaged but they are well. I have been attending church meetings all week seeking the Holy Spirit’s power to take home to Nepal. Meantime my Christian friends need to know they are loved and cared for. God is moving in Australia. Last night I spoke to a homeless man who found Jesus. How grateful he was. He said, “why did I wait so long?” Last night he was baptised into Christ. Sooo good! As the return of Jesus comes close, let us make the main thing (Jesus), the main thing. Amen! Love God and those He loves!

My disciple

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If you truly want to follow me, you should at once completely reject and disown your own life. And you must be willing to share my cross and experience it as your own, as you continually surrender to my ways.” Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬ ‭TPT‬‬ It is raining severely in Nepal, lansdslides are occurring and homes washed away. I have a friend whose foundations have been exposed causing him to move out of his house. Here is Australia the rains and cold weather have come. Awaken Australia is on in Brisbane with people standing in the rain as they sang and worshipped. The conference that I just attended was inside and I am grateful, however, I was to attend tonight’s crusade. May the Lord reign and have His way! I had prayer for two things that have been troublesome to me: my hearing and nerve pain in my right arm after the fall some seven weeks ago. For both of these issues God spoke to my heart and told me He was healing me. I will need to step into these by fai...

Remain strong

“And don’t be intimidated by those who are older than you; simply be the example they need to see by being faithful and true in all that you do. Speak the truth and live a life of purity and authentic love as you remain strong in your faith.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Remaining strong in our faith is important, finishing the race is paramount. I have walked with the Lord for 51 years and my love for Him has grown, exponentially. To be without Him would be empty and lack purpose. He is the light of my life, my strength and song. In this passage Paul, the elder, was encouraging Timothy the younger. I know many young believers, and likewise, I encourage them to finish well. Earlier this week I attended a Cfan three day training with three of my grandchildren. They sat up the back and watched the proceedings. They had hands laid upon them and went out on outreach. I was right down the front involved in worship. May my example speak. Last night my son called to tell me there had been 167 d...

Saviour

““God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!” John‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭TPT‬‬ This is such a beautiful verse. In a time when the world races to destruction we need to be reminded that God loves people and wants all men to be saved. While doing outreach the past few days I watched the selpossessed reject our offer outright. It was the young and frail who received Him. Those satisfied with life under their own rule consider the gospel foolish. However, those who do receive Him become children of God and the self-righteous go on the path to hell. This is sad! Have mercy Lord! Amen!

Wherever and when ever

“Wherever I go, your hand will guide me; your strength will empower me.” Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Today is the third day of Cfan outreach here in Brisbane Australia. It has been filled with the Holy Spirit. I love the worship as room is made for Holy Spirit. So good to be with people who love to worship. Tonight I move to the Gold Coast for a Bill Johnson conference. The Lord’s presence has been so beautiful. I had been wondering how I will get to the Gold Coast. Yesterday I met a woman from there and she showed me the way. Praise God! Last night on the way home we had a flat tyre. I walked the last kilometer while my son changed the tyre. I needed to pack for today, shower and have dinner. My grandson Ryan showed me the way in the dark. It is so good to worship our God! He is worthy of all praise! Amen!

All have sinned

“for we all have sinned and are in need of the glory of God. Yet through his powerful declaration of acquittal, God freely gives away his righteousness. His gift of love and favor now cascades over us, all because Jesus, the Anointed One, has liberated us from the guilt, punishment, and power of sin!” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Yesterday we did outreach in front of the Town Hall in Brisbane. We saw a cripple get out of his wheelchair and walk, several commit their lives to Christ. The worship before and after was crazy. Young people jumping for joy. Yet many passed by refusing to engage. They were upright people who deemed us foolish. I had a good conversation with a woman my age who admitted to being a nominal Catholic. We talked for a good half hour. I left her with material and told her I wanted to see her in eternity. The young people have embolden me to go a step further and invite people to pray then and there. Today is another opportunity. Lord lead me to the people Yiu have...

Be ready

“So keep being alert and ready at all times. For I promise you that the Son of Man will surprise you and appear when you don’t expect him.” Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭40‬ ‭TPT‬‬ These are Jesus’ words. He is warning us to be ready for Him. We can ignore Him and suffer at our own peril. We are watching the world hurtle towards the end and prophesy is being fulfilled. How can we ignore Him? I have family I love who are ignorantly proceeding along life’s path. How can they not see? Open eyes, Lord! Open ears! Have mercy Lord!

Mighty God

“I am Yahweh, your mighty God! I grip your right hand and won’t let you go! I whisper to you: ‘Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you!’” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭13‬ ‭TPT‬‬ This chapter in Isaiah is filled with God’s promise to be right with us in the fires, holding our right hand. He promises that even though our enemies rail against us, they will be defeated.  God also challenges our idols. Do we have idols? What and who is our security? Is money, health, relationships? Our God is a jealous God and will have no idols before Him. The Lord’s presence is all I need. Amen!

Because of this

“Because of this, encourage the hearts of your fellow believers and support one another, just as you have already been doing.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬ ‭TPT‬‬ I must investigate the ‘because of this’; why is it there? Verse 9 and 10 tells me: “For God has not destined us for wrath but to possess salvation through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. He gave his life for us so that we may share in resurrection life in union with him—whether we’re awake or asleep.” I cannot do anything for those who are asleep- dead, but I can encourage those who are awake. While I am here in Australia I have friends back in Nepal who are diligently working. We need to read more of the word of God, not less, we must study it and make ourselves ready for the bridegroom. Meanwhile, we have an important task, share the gospel. I am watching our Lord fashion each of us to make us ready. I love the people I share this task with. I love their dedication. Yesterday, a fellow missionary shared with me the message ...

Words, words, words

“And never let ugly or hateful words come from your mouth, but instead let your words become beautiful gifts that encourage others; do this by speaking words of grace to help them.” Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Back in Australia it is hard to discern God’s goodness. It seems as if the land is covered by a layer of pleasure and entertainment. Living for pleasure can be so blinding. This is not the real world. Here in this world people speak before thinking, in other words they react. Where is restraint? We need to find our way to Jesus, He is the gate, the way, the life. Jesus lived a life mindful of others, but importantly mindful of what His Father was doing.we can live like this. What does the Father want to use our hands, feet and mouths for today? Let us find the path to life! Amen!

Kindness to the poor

“If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you!” Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ In Nepal there are plenty of poor, in Australia there are those who have lost all and cannot afford housing, they are also poor. However, being one who cannot afford housing in Australia, I do not consider myself poor in comparison to the Nepalese poor. I can receive government support here, they cannot receive much in the same way there. The cast system predudices their chances, whereas in Australia we are all equal, more or less. Our aboriginal people receive good benefits, new Australians receive good benefits, this is a land of opportunity. Having been back in Australia for almost a week and staying with my son and his family I can see how insulated we are here from the realities worldwide. The houses are massive and clean, wide, clean walkways abound. The poor in Nepal would be happy to live in the garages here. I’ve read a book my Heidi and Roland Baker about the conditions in M...

A clean heart

“Keep creating in me a clean heart. Fill me with pure thoughts and holy desires, ready to please you. May you never reject me! May you never take from me your sacred Spirit! Let my passion for life be restored, tasting joy in every breakthrough you bring to me. Hold me close to you with a willing spirit that obeys whatever you say.” Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭TPT‬‬ I will always remember Keith Green’s rendition of this Psalm. Keith sought holiness and was sold out for Jesus. His music greatly impacted my life as a young Christian. Australia is in a time of Awakening. Next week there is an Awakening conference here in Brisbane at the Showground. My son is heavily involved and his children will be going along also. I pray the holiness of Jesus impacts hearts and minds. I am spending a week with my son’s family. Two of the boys still like to hang out with Nan. The youngest Ollie and I walk down to the Bay every day. Yesterday we both did a painting. As we walk we talk about Jesus and the Bib...

Flourishing

“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ. Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Yesterday I had what seemed an unreasonabl request, it was a stay out of my face request. My immediate reaction was anger but then I remembered how anger does not work the righteousness of God. I handed it over and gave the Lord freedom to work. Yesterday my youngest grandson and I went for a long walk, we will do it again today, this time we might do some painting. I am grateful that I ha...

Doing well with little

““The one who faithfully manages the little he has been given will be promoted and trusted with greater responsibilities. But those who cheat with the little they have been given will not be considered trustworthy to receive more.” Luke‬ ‭16‬:‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Each of us has a portion of worldly wealth. For me, living in Nepal, the money that went nowhere in Australia stretches wide in Nepal. I keep my mind and heart positioned to being led with the distribution of it. Being back in Australia I see gross waste of time and money, compared to that of missionaries in Nepal. We are there to work at service. However, I know, with God, He sees differently. His kingdom must be the focus. This week I am spending time with grandchildren, who are gamers. As the school holidays are in place games and movies rule. Next week will be different. It is a week of church and outreach. This is why I am here. This week I will concentrate on my Nepali studies as my classes continue at home in Nepal. Lord show me...

A strong refuge

“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.” ‭‭Nahum‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Trouble does come. It has many guises. We must remember the 23rd Psalm. Though we walk through the darkest valleys, He is with us. He prepares a table for us in the midst of our enemies.  Our enemy Satan is made watch as we feast with our Lord and saviour. Jesus faces off with Satan and defeated him at the cross. Satan knows this and we must know and remember this. In our trials we can sing and rejoice for He is with us. Today I join my son and his family at his church and then outreach afterwards. I am seeking total healing for my right carpal tunnel. I will show up any way. I may be a tad jet lagged, I’ll show up anyway. I will worship and rejoice in God my saviour. Amen!

My bedrock

“Yahweh, you’re the bedrock beneath my feet, my faith-fortress, my wonderful deliverer, my God, my rock of rescue where none can reach me. You’re the shield around me, the mighty power that saves me, and my high place.” Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭2‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Ah! Back in Australia for two conferences and joining with Cfan for street outreach. My son and his children  will join, or should I say I am joining them. I’ve had a 24 hour trip and minimal sleep. I met some lovely little people, how I love little people, at airports and on planes. The last leg from Sydney to Brisbane I had a window seat and was able to look upon the beauty of the eastern coastline of Australia. I am now happily at my sons house with his dog whilst they are at a birthday party, being minded by their faithful dog Tango. We have already had a dance together.  My God kept me safe all the way and gave me pleasant travelling companions. Whilst most trips had delays they were easily made up for in flying time. Am so looking ...

Be entwined

“Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭14‬ ‭TPT‬‬ This verse is the last verse in this Psalm of David. David is confident in the Lord’s love and protection, he craves being in the Lord’s presence. This Psalm was written just before he was annointed king. Today I fly back to Australia for a month. Yesterday I sat my first Nepali language exam. Praise God it was easy. I was struggling to remember all the lessons I had received. My class is happy for me and will welcome me back. I am grateful for my time here so far. I’ve had many conflicts but they have taught me the mind of God. He wants our ultimate freedom, freedom from selfishness, a need to control, judgementalism. I have experienced all of these, they are not pleasant when aimed at you. The right response is ‘what do You say God’? His opinion ma...

Prayer and praise

“Are there any believers in your fellowship suffering great hardship and distress? Encourage them to pray! Are there happy, cheerful ones among you? Encourage them to sing out their praises!” ‭‭James (Jacob)‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬ ‭TPT‬ When you suffer great hardship and distress you want to talk, complain and cry. However, prayer and praise lifts the spirit above the circumstances and causes you to fly. We find it easier to sing joyful songs when happy, however, we see in the Old Testament when going into battle the singers would go out front. I am sure they sang songs reminding God of His goodness and encouraging the warriors that what God did once He will do again. This sort of worship is so good for the soul. When things are good we should give thanks for it is God who makes things good. He is worthy to be praised! Amen!

What delight

“What delight comes to you when you wait upon the Lord! For you will find what you long for.” Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭TPT‬‬ What a wonderful verse! It is true! Going to my Lord I sense His face and His presence. He is beautiful indeed. I particularly love the gospel of John for in it I find Him in all His beauty. Going to the Lord is not about me, it is about finding Him, His way and His wisdom. His ways are so much better than mine, His thoughts so much higher than mine. I cannot expect Him to be carnal, for there is no sin in Him. When we have problems with our relationships on earth He has the answers. He is working in us all for His good pleasure. His is bringing us all towards the marriage supper of the Lamb. His bride must be pure and holy. We are made this as we walk with Him and trust Him. He is more than enough for us. Amen!

Service

“Dear brothers and sisters, make sure that you show your deep appreciation for those who cherish you and diligently work as ministers among you. For they are your leaders who care for you, teach you, and stand before the Lord on your behalf. They value you with great love. Because of their service to you, let peace reign among yourselves.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭TPT‬‬ The greatest gift chidren can give their parents is to love one another and respect their parent's care for them. The greatest gift a church can give their pastors is to love one another and have a deep relationship with the Lord. This will show that the word preached has reached listening ears.  Our God is at work to transform us into the image of His Son. If we wonder what our lives should look like, the answer is Jesus. Jesus, though He was God, humbled Himself to a position of a slave, and bore our sins and shame. He did this out of love. We would do well to do likewise. Amen!

God’s sanctuary

“Don’t you realize that together you have become God’s inner sanctuary and that the Spirit of God makes his permanent home in you? Now, if someone desecrates God’s inner sanctuary, God will desecrate him, for God’s inner sanctuary is holy, and that is exactly who you are.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭TPT‬‬ These two verse come after a teaching on building our lives with precious things from God; it is followed by Paul’s teaching on true wisdom. Therefore, we must take heed how we build our lives. If we are a part of God’s holy temple, in which He lives, then e would do well to study the instructions God gave Moses on building the tent to house His presence in the wilderness. This will display God’s holiness and His expectation in the building (Exodus 25-31). God empowered one particular man, Bezalel, in design and craftsmanship for all the intricate work. The detail of the work was exact.God said, ‘ I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and ability, in understanding and...

Making allowances

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬ For the modern person, even a Christian, this is a tall order. Why, we come first don’t we? No! If we are followers of Christ we must lay down selfishness and clothe ourselves with humility. Do we even know where to begin? We begin with a repentant prayer and a petition to God to make us aware, teach us and lead us. He will!  Next we spend time with Him, reading His words to us. His word is full of life. Hebrews 4:12 tells us ‘God’s word is living and active able to pierce bone and marrow, it interprets and discerns the true intentions of the heart.’ Our bibles are the best medicine! Next we ask for ears to hear His truth and a heart to walk in it. This is humility. Then do it! Amen!

Finding the wise

“Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I have various friends, some I enjoy immensely, others in certain places and times. However, just because I enjoy a particular friend does not mean they have wisdom in all things. Some things they are very good and some not so. Why is that? Experience!  Recently I cracked a tooth and half of it fell away. I asked a friend who had lived in Nepal for 16 years for advice. She recommended her dentist as being reasonably priced, good with pain relief and a capable dentist. She told me ‘ he does not have a fancy front shop but you will find him through a hole in the wall!’ Now, this can make one wonder how successful the dentist is and therefore how good he really is. But I trusted my friend and went to her dentist. He was the best! Better than my dentist in Australia. Now, this friend is willing to tell me where she has no experience, for that I am grateful. This, to me makes her wi...

Respect

“Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬ In today’s world these directives are forgotten by many. In church life they are very important. Respect for age, office and the Lord are all tantamount.  As an older woman I do not find much respect these days. In Nepal people here do not, on the whole, show respect. They cut in before you, overtalk you or ignore you. I know that respect is something we teach younger people. If we fail to teach then we fail to receive. We teach through our own behaviour. If we show respect, respect is given. I respected my own mother and father. My siblings also respected them. Even though my dad was a cantankerous old man we still loved and respected him. I pray that my children and grandchildren wi...

Eternal life

“I speak to you an eternal truth: if you embrace my message and believe in the One who sent me, you will never face condemnation. In me, you have already passed from the realm of death into eternal life!” John‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬ ‭TPT‬‬ What is eternal life after all, as we all die? The eternal life Jesus was speaking about is life of the soul and spirit after the bodies die. Those who actively believe Jesus paid the price for all their sins, that is enough. If I live my life by faith in the finished work of Jesus and make Him Lord of my life, that is enough. If I now allow Jesus to influence my decisions and choices, I am walking in faith with Him. I can never pay the price He paid for me. He remained sinless His whole life and died a sinners death on the cross in my place. His blood is enough. Eternal death is not ‘lights out’ and no knowledge of our surroundings, it is a choice to go, with Satan and his demons to hell and rot for all eternity in flames that do not quench and worms that are ne...

A new nature

“He answered, “The Scriptures say: Bread alone will not satisfy, but true life is found in every word that constantly goes forth from God’s mouth.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭TPT‬‬ In this verse Jesus is doing battle with Satan. Jesus had just fasted for 40 days in the desert. He was hungry and Satan saw his chance. However, he was wrong. Jesus knew His scripture and He knew His Father. He was not playing the game and losing His sinlessness. We have been cleansed by the blood Jesus shed for us. We were born into sin, however, when we come to Christ and make Him Lord, we are new creatures created in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:17). We can also resist sin and the devil. James tells us: ‘resist the devil and he will flee!’ (James 4:7) We need to stand up in who we are and tell Satan to go. Choose righteousness, not sinfulness saying: ‘oh well I was born into sin’. If you belong to Christ you have a new nature. Live in it! Amen!

The most excellent way

“I continue to pray for your love to grow and increase beyond measure, bringing you into the rich revelation of spiritual insight in all things. This will enable you to choose the most excellent way of all —becoming pure and without offense until the unveiling of Christ.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬ We have more than enough to offend us daily, however we must choose grace and forgiveness. A check on how we’re are walking: in Christ or the flesh, is how we behave towards others. When things go our way and we feel on top are we arrogant and lacking grace, or do we see our need for grace and humble ourselves? When struggling are we filled with self-pity and ungracious? Daily we need Jesus, moment by moment we need Jesus. He has to be before our eyes. His way is the right way, the only way. Jesus said of Himself: ‘I only do what I see the Father doing’ (Jn 5:19).  Let us seek out what the Father is doing today. Amen!

Fall in love

“When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” Psalms‬ ‭94‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We can doubt who we are; who loves us; who supports us. However, if we are in Christ we have the Holy Spirit to tell us we are loved. We do not need to feel loved to be loved. We may not always feel God’s love, our feelings are not truth, God’s word is truth. I now have some lovely friends in Nepal and their fellowship make me feel loved. However, they are not my bedrock, Jesus is. God’s word tells me how He loves me. This I must trust. Hebrews tell me: God’s word is living and active, piercing through bone and marrow. His truth sustains me. It touches the heart of a matter. I happen to enjoy the Passion translation of the Bible. Psalms are particularly beautiful in this translation. Fall in love with Jesus and His word to us! Amen!

Sharper

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬ As we read God’s word it apprehends us, challenges us, directs us. It challenges our behaviour, our thoughts, our intentions. At present I am challenged with the way Jesus handled Judas, His betrayer. The only time we see Judas speak up is when Mary pours expensive nard over a Jesus’ feet and wipes his feet with her hair. Judas. A money-lover, was offended at the presumed waste. ‘Why this could be sold and the money given to the poor’. He did not care for the poor, as he was a thief. Jesus did not remonstrate with him about his greed, or theft. Jesus knew Juda would betray Him and therefore was essential. However, He did defend Mary’s actions and told Judas to ‘leave her alone’ as she was preparing Him for His burial. When we are faced with a person who i...
