Seeing and Hearing

But your eyes are blessed because they do see, and your ears because they do hear. Matthew 13:16 Being able to hear what the Lord is saying without actually hearing a voice takes practice and the practice comes about through learning His character, spending time with Him, waiting in His waiting room, knowing Him, doing relationship with Him. When I returned home in the wee hours of this morning He was here to welcome me. Not only does He live inside me but He lives in my home, He welcomed me home as a husband would a wife who had been on a trip somewhere. You don't know how good that feels. The spirit world is very real, I can consciously enter it by acknowledging it and choosing to go there. This is where He lives, where He can be found. I have to cultivate this in my life and then I have safety, a refuge. I can go to this place and I find the answers. I don't have to hear a sentence, yet He speaks in my heart. Most often it is 'look at Me'. Especially when all aro...

Come

d, "Come". so Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out His hand and took hold of him.... Matthew 14:29-31  I seem to have this chip inside that responds to the call of faith. There are many times I wish it was not there but it always wins. The call rises above the mundane, it is full of relationship and it sings to me. The resonance of faith is full of beautiful melody, I am bound to it and cannot escape. After I have spent time with family and hear sympathetic cries of "Why do you do this to yourself?" I examine myself in the light of the ordinary and find so much that does not comply. Yet when I return home and feel the welcome of the spirit I am again challenged to follow. I had a good time with my sisters and mother. Yes we had our moments but they were processed well and we came through as a loving...

The New Has Come

" Where then did this man get all these things?" And they took offense at him. ....And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matthew 13:56-68 We have heard the saying 'familiarity breeds contempt.' These people had witnessed Jesus growing up in their midst, they knew His mother, father, brothers and sisters. Knowing familiar facts can lead us to reject the supernatural. There are times when those we know well are changed by the power of God and they do and say things that are new. Does the knowing of them in former days limit what they now say? Jesus changes peoples lives. He Himself was changed when the Holy Spirit came upon Him. He was not longer the same. People who meet Christ walk into a whole new dimension. When God works in a new way suspicion from the old questions and sometimes persecutes the new. Just because the familiar is comfortable does not mean that it holds the whole truth. We have to maintain an open heart to the new, ...

The Kingdom of Heaven

And He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old. Matthew 13:52 In my life there are things that I have progressively learned over the last 30 years of being a Christian. They are like a wine that I have kept for a long time, it is precious and mature. There are other things that are new. Each day I am learning something new. They are full of revelation and liberty. These things build upon the foundation of my Christian beliefs in my life. I have been trained for the kingdom of heaven, I have the new and the old, both co-habit together quite well. Both enhance the other making me complete. Things that happen in my life can train me for righteousness, if I allow them and not react saying 'why me?' I am here to learn what I need for eternity. This world is not all there is there is so much more. I am made for eternity, it lives inside me. My ...

Mustard Seed

The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. Matthew 13:31,32 This scripture so encourages me. At times the bigness of the worldly ways of others seem to say to me, you can't come in here, I am bigger. Yet the words of the kingdom are greater. The other day I had someone go off at me, unfairly and chose to let it go. My mother noticed and said to me 'I like the way you turn the other cheek.'I did not realise that was what I was doing, for at times I feel trampled on and useless. The person who went off apologised tonight and my mother tells me that they were sorry as soon as they spoke. The kingdom of God and His ways are far greater than anything else and I can so trust it, because it never fails to accomplish that which it sets out to do. I ...

Weeds

The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while he was sleeping his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Matthew13:24-30 Disappointment does not come into the Lord's register. He can cope with an enemy planting weeds in His field. He knows how to handle weeds. Later in the same parable Jesus says that the master of the field told his servants not to try and pull out the weeds until harvest time. I don't know about you but the season of spring here in Australia has caused a proliferation of weeds to spring up all through my lawn, my garden beds, absolutely everywhere I don't want them they are there. I get to and weed them all out. Yes, in some instances I manage to pull out what is not a weed at the same time. Yet in life, Christ is not willing that any should be lost. He is willing to risk the weed nature and will patiently wait until the end, when it is time to harvest. Christ loves all more than a tidy f...

Good Soil

"As for what is sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."Matthew 13:23 Ah! good soil! Lord may I be a field of good soil, thick, rich, full of nutrients. May I receive your precious word and watch it grow as only You can make it grow. Tend me, dig me, fertilize me, together let us see the harvest. Amen! Thank you for what You bring into my world, good and bad. It is how I receive both that determines the fruit. The hurt that comes needs to be handled well, delicately, as if handled wrongly it sours my life and twists me all out of shape. The good needs gratitude and humility so that it is honoured correctly and put in the right place. Handled well it produces abundance, handled wrongly and it rots. Thank You Lord for all! Thank You for Your presence in my world, more precious than friends, family or stuff. You are the glue, the inspiration...

Be For Me!

Whoever is not for me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30 This scripture comes in the middle of teaching about an accustaion that Jesus was casting out demons by the power of satan, which he refuted and then went on to speak about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. However the above scripture smacks me in the face, as a believer. It speaks to me about not becoming slack and lazy in my faith. For if I become a voiceless entity then I do not think Christ, speak Christ, live Christ. Staying with family and doing life in community I must draw aside to spend time at the fount of what it is all about for me. Who is in charge? I am in Tasmania and having time with family and being involved in their farm and life, I am mindful of the grace that allows me the priviledge but also the grace that draws me forward. The last two nights we have watched two movies; De Ja Vu and Inception, both intriguing mind movies, very powerful in presentation. Yet the mo...

For This Purpose

" Behold my servant  whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my spirit upon Him, and He will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets; a bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not quench, until He brings justice to victory; and in His name will the gentiles hope." Matthew 12:18-21 The above was a prophesy about Jesus, taken from the book of Isaiah. I look at this and love my Lord for His personality. I look at this and know this is what Christ in me wants to do in my world. The heart of my God is towards the lost, He loves them and wants them for Himself, for all eternity. I am His hands and feet, I am blessed to share such a nature. Jesus had no need to call attention to Himself, for Himself. He called all men to Himself so that they might experience the Father. Jesus did not let ego get in the way, He did not do the ministry for a self...

Withered Hearts

He went out from there and entered their synagogue. An there was a man with a withered hand. And they asked him, "is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" - so that they might accuse Him. He said to to them, "which one of you has a sheep. If it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than the sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And the man stretched it out it was restored, healthy like the other. But the Pharisees went out and conspired against Him, how to destroy Him. Matthew 12:9-13 The man was unimportant to the Pharisees, their opinion was greater than humanity or any truth. Jesus, who loved humanity despised such religiosity. Their false spirits annoyed Him. Our God is greater than any religious ideas or opinions. That people are set free from sin and disease is His desire. Our God is about compassion. He came to set men ...

His Way

"and if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the guiltless.Matthew 11:7 Jesus constantly challenges attitude. The Pharisees were all about tithing to the nth degree, but missing the heart of God, which was mercy. When we become so locked into performance we become very protective of our 'patch' and aggressively attack those who would challenge our mindsets. Perhaps we are in fact defending 'strongholds'. When I see this happen I am challenged with the importance of staying free, Christ's way. Strongholds are surrounding all sorts of things in our lives. Whenever we see ourselves defending 'this is the way I do this, or the way we do this', we see our problem. It can even surround a supposed 'freedom'. When I see this in my own life I must go to the cross and repent so that I can be made free, truly free, His way, not my way. After all Jesus said 'I am the Way, the Trut...

His Yoke

"Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 Last night I went to a fundraising function for breast cancer and met lovely lost people. There was a woman who spoke who has had breast cancer for the second time, the woman who discovered the cancer has herself been diagnosed with terminal cancer in her lungs, another woman is suffering after a divorce and is drinking her pain away and then there is my dear friend who is running away from the cross. I was right where I needed to be. My lovely Lord's yoke is easy, His burden is light. We can allow all sorts of burdens to come upon us but there is only one that gives life. I asked the woman with lung cancer if I might pray for her and she was overwhelmed and grateful, I did pray right there and will continue t...

Perspective

To what should I compare this generation? It's like children sitting in a market place who call out to each other "we played a flute for you but you did not dance; we sang a lament but you did not mourn!" For John did not comes eating and drinking, and they say, "He has a demon." The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, "Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!" Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds. Matthew 11:16-19 Sound familiar? Criticism is still rife, the kingdom of self still reigns. Arrogance and judgement still stop all over the truth and righteousness as if Lord. Ha! but the good news is Jesus is Lord! The children in the market place are playing a game, much like Simon says. Children are by nature impulsive, selfish and demanding. They must be taught truth, and right thinking. This morning I went to take my eldest grandson to pre-school and he was very unhappy because his mother made him wear a ...

Why Get Offended with God?

"Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?"Matthew 11:3 This was asked Jesus by someone close to Him, John the Baptist. He had heard Jesus talk a baptism of fire yet he was languishing in jail. He could have been saying, "Hey I thought we had something special, why have you not lifted a finger to help me?" As life dishes out it's trials we, each, could say the same thing. 'But God I though you would make life good.' Jesus replied to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind see, the lame walk, those with skin diseases are healed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are told good news. And if anyone is not offended because of me, he is blessed." (Matthew 11:4) He was saying 'I am doing what I am meant to do, these are the captives I have come to set free. You have done what you had to do, I must do what I have to do. Please don't be offended that this does not involve dealing w...

Welcoming Carries a Reward

The one who welcomes you welcomes Me, and the one who welcomes me welcomes Him who sent Me. Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. Anyone who welcomes a righteous person because he is righteous will receive a righteous person's reward. And whoever gives a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple - I assure you he will never lose his reward. Matthew 10:40-42 In the realm of the spirit it is good to understand how things work. Their is a reward process going on. Each day we will encounter spiritual experiences. As we go forth in the spirit we have opportunity to receive and reject. Others will receive and reject truth we represent. How is the Godly spoken about? We will see and hear men and women of God as we walk, do we understand what they represent? Do we understand what we represent? We are the representation of Christ. As we go forth as His disciples people will come into our world, as they recei...

Losing Life

Anyone finding his life will lose it, and anyone losing his life because of Me will find it. Matthew 10:39 I heard, yesterday, that a minister had given up His desires for his life, since he was 15 and continually found it, it Christ. So much better, so much greater, so much scarier than he ever imagined. He was much more fulfilled than he ever imagined possible. I am compelled, every time my mind wants to plot how my life will look, to lay it down. Because I cannot imagine better and best enough. My God goes before me. Yielding and yielding continually is imperative to me. I must seek first His Kingdom and all these things will come. What does best look like? Beyond what I can hope or imagine, dare I believe? The way of man is to control, hold, plot devise. It all fails. The way of God is yield and watch, yield and watch, yield and watch. The Lord wants my heart, all of it.

Victimhood

Therefore don't be afraid of them, since there is nothing covered that won't be uncovered and nothing hidden that won't be made known. Matthew 10:26 I wanted to again visit this scripture as I don't think I covered it fully yesterday. What is Jesus saying here? We know so much is done out of a wrong spirit, so much cruelty is done in the dark, so much abuse is covered as the perpetrators delight in their sin in the dark. Yet Jesus is saying it will come into the light. I wonder how long the young innocent victims of sexual sin have to wait until they receive justice? How long do the women who suffer horribly have to wait until their abuser come into the light? We see them on TV as the abusers are brought to justice and sometimes the victims are elderly now. Sometimes the victims are dead. The victims of the Holocaust in the last world war waited for years for their abusers to receive their sentence, their closure. Corrie Tem Boom knew about this yet as she went to h...

Persecution and Suffering

Therefore do not be afraid of them (those who can persecute you), since there is nothing covered that won't be uncovered and nothing hidden that won't be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper, proclaim on the housetops. Don't fear those who kill the body but are not able to destroy both soul and body in hell.... do not be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:26-31 Ah! a lesson in perspective again! Persecution will come but God is bigger! Eternity lasts forever and this life for but a short time. Where do I spend eternity? What choice have I made? Jesus went to the cross with an eternal perspective, yes He was scared but he faced it and God strengthened Him. He completed the task at hand. We really do not like suffering but it comes. How do we endure? What will be achieved through the experience, who will it touch? The above scripture tells us how valuable we are, how important we are to th...

Sheep Among Wolves

"Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and harmless as doves. Because people will hand you over........ but when they hand you over, don't worry about how or what you should speak. For you will be given what to say at that hour, because you are not speaking, bu the Spirit of your father is speaking through you." Matthew 10:16-20 Isn't it amazing that the shepherd is sending sheep into the midst of wolves? What does He know? Is it that we have a protector, a shield, a guide, a comforter? Jesus instructs us to be wise as serpents. Serpents know how to disappear from danger, they are quick. We are also to be as innocent as doves. A dove does not have the power to retaliate that a serpent has. Keeping a 'dove heart' is a real challenge as we employ the parts of a serpent that help us avoid danger, we forget to lay aside the striking nature of the serpent. A dove has to rely on a protector, a voice that will stand...

Who is Worthy?

When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave. Greet a household when you enter it, and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it. But if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town. Matthew 10:11-14 In this modern day if a preacher did this he would be condemned as having an attitude problem, a self-righteousness but then not many modern day preachers carry the power that these did either, we have diluted the whole experience. Rejection of the gospel and of the preacher is real. Matthew likens the person who rejects the gospel to a dog or a pig in 7:6. 'Don't give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn and tear you to pieces.' Perhaps we spend too long with those who trample and become dejected and lose our power. It would pay us well ...

Simplicity of Faith

Summoning His 12 disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. Jesus sent these 12 after giving them instructions: "Don't take the road leading to other nations, and don't enter any Samaritan town. Instead go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go announce this: 'The Kingdom of heaven has come near'. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; give free of charge. Matthew 10:1,3-8 At the end of the last chapter Jesus had said, "Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Jesus is now commissioning His disciples, empowering them to go into the harvest, thus identifying Himself as 'lord of His harvest.' I wonder if the disciples did indeed pray and as a result were sent. I wonder what was going on in their minds? 'Wow! I get to do this miracle stuff!' 'I wo...

Compassion

Then Jesus went to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest." Matthew 9:35-38 Jesus had compassion, compassion touches need and heals the need. He had compassion because the crowds were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd. Sheep who have a shepherd are cared for, well fed, safe and well groomed. Uncared for sheep are fly blown with maggots, they are in pain, their wool is filthy and unkempt, they are prey to wolves and they die prematurely. It is interesting that this observation was given. Jesus taught about the 'Good shepherd' and likened Himself to such. He cleansed th...

"I Can See!"

As Jesus went out from there, two blind men followed Him shouting, "have mercy on us, Son of David!" When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" "Yes  Lord", they answered Him. Then He touched their eyes saying, "Let it be done according to your faith!" And their eyes were opened. Matthew 9:27-30 How exciting for the blind men, today was their day. They had heard about Jesus, they felt the excitement growing amongst the people and searched for him. They had to rely on others to take them to him. Finally they were in front of Jesus, Jesus had just come out of Jarius' house. They followed shouting, "have mercy on us Son of David!" Ah! these men recognised something. Isaiah 35:5-6 confirms Jesus as the Messiah. The scribes and Pharisees had trouble recognising Jesus because He did not fit the idea they had of the Messiah but the poor, the sick, the lost did, a...

Words of Life

Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years approached from behind and touched the tassel on His robe, for she said to herself, "if I can just touch His robe, I'll be made well!" But Jesus turned and saw her, "have courage daughter," He said. "your faith has made you well". And the woman was made well from that moment. Matthew 9:20-22 Matthew, a true bloke, does not tell us how he knew what the woman was thinking, or how he knew she had bled for 12 years. However I know women. Upon receiving her miracle the woman probably babbled her story to Jesus and those around. But what we do know is what Jesus said to her. "your faith has made you well." How do we get faith? Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Fear will cause us to grasp at straws. Who do we listen to? Who has authority in our lives? Who has truth? Jesus said "my words are power and life." The apostles themselves said to him, "You alo...

Rise Up!

As He was saying these things (talking about wine skins needing to be new for new wine), suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before Him saying, "My daughter is near death, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live". So Jesus and His disciples got up and followed him. Matthew 9:18,19 Again a man, this time a leader, recognises Jesus' deity. He knelt before him. You will not kneel before someone unless you have a revelation that He is mighty, unless you are forced that is. In the gospel of Mark we come to know the name of this man, he is Jarius. He is a leader of the synagogue. This was huge for him. He has, by his actions, given up his position and authority as his fellow leaders who opposed Jesus would not let him get away with this. What would he now do? How would he provide for his family. Perhaps this all weighed on Jarius for days, but now his daughter, who he  loves dearly is dying. Did his wife prompt him? Did a servant? Who in his hou...

The Mercy of Grace

While He was reclining at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came as guests to eat with Jesus and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" But when He heard this, He said, "Those who are well don't need a doctor, but the sick do. Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice (Hosea 6:6) For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mathew 9:10-13 Jesus now begins to deal with attitude, especially self-righteous attitude. Sinners are not drawn to repentance by arrogant self-righteousness of the supposedly good, but by the mercy of the one who was good. Grace draws like a magnet. As I do life and fail, the grace that my God gives me, again and again, draws me to Him. Yes I will fail, because of my fallen nature, but oh the joy of repentance and the coming back to the One who cleanses me. His grace has no judgement attached, no...

"Follow Me!"

As Jesus went out from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, "follow Me!" So he got up and followed him. Matthew 9:9 Have you ever wondered what was going on in Matthew's life? He may have been so over doing a job that caused his fellow countrymen to hate him. Having seen Jesus in action his heart could have been stirred, an awareness of his sin and a dislike for all that he was. Perhaps he was thinking 'if Jesus asks me to follow him I will.' Perhaps his prayers were 'God set me free!' The change took all of one verse in the bible, it would have taken much time as God worked behind the scenes to bring Matthew to the place of surrender. As I read the book of Matthew I see a man who understood the deity of Christ, he understood the simplicity of the gospel and he recognised the power to deliver. He has set the gospel out in lesson format, each story holds a truth. Matthew was probably a good money manager, he ...

Freedom First

So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town. Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, "Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.".....-then He told the paralytic, "get up, pick up your mat, and go home." Matthew 9:1-8 Jesus got into a boat, going home from work, an ordinary event. When He arrived home there were some people who had heard, perhaps seen and now believed. They brought a sick friend to Him. This man needed, more than anything, to know his sins were forgiven. Perhaps he had done something wrong, perhaps his conscience was really troubling him, perhaps, like me, leading to salvation he became painfully aware of his sin. Jesus addressed his heart need, forgiveness. I love my Lord for addressing real needs as He sees them. The man's friends were more concerned about his disability. Next the Lord addressed his physical problem. Without Him addressing the first the ma...

Demons Go!

When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, tow demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. Suddenly they shouted, 'What do you have to do with us, Son of God? Have you come to torment us before the time?" Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs were feeding. "If you drive us out," the demons begged Him, "send us into the herd of pigs." "Go" he told them. Matthew 8:28-32 Jesus was secure in who He was. He faced something that would put most of us indoors. He was not frightened to face the demons. He had already faced their master and won. We, each of us, face some demon in our own lives. Is it fear, addiction, anger, religiosity, bitterness, jealousy? They must go at a word, the word must come from a heart clean and full of authority. Jesus had authority because all of Him was submitted to His Father in heaven. Submission cleanses us, gives us...

Love Covers Me

As He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. So the disciples came and woke him up, saying, 'Lord save us! We're going to die!" But he said to them, "why are you fearful, you of little faith?' Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. And there was a great calm. The men were amazed and asked, "what kind of man is this? Even the winds and sea obey Him!" Matthew 8:23-27 Last night I watched the movie 'The Tourist', in which the man been sought by authorities and thugs disguised himself, cleverly, and won the woman and the cash. He played the part of two men. In the above verse we read about another man who played the part of two men, one God, one man. The constant learning for the disciples was that this man was more than what they saw. They were constantly drawn to believe that He was indeed God, yet He did not act like...

Our Deliverer

When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who  were sick, so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: 'He Himself took out weaknesses   and carried our diseases.' Matthew 8:16,17 So many things can possess us, what we give ourselves to controls us. We might be totally oblivious and blind to its workings but it is there. We cannot foolishly race headlong into the destroyers hands and allow ourselves to be ruled by darkness. Jesus drove out the spirits with a word. Everyone knew that the possessed were possessed. Nowadays we are so sophisticated we fail to see and the demons of darkness have a field day. Our society has fallen in love with the workers of darkness. We idolise witches and sorcerers, we call bad good and when the good comes we avoid it calling it bad and freakish. I am praying that the truth be made real and the darkness be exposed, that we turn to th...

Simple Compassion

When Jesus went into Peter's house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she began to get up and serve Him. Matthew 8:14,15 I am struck with the ordinariness of this description. Jesus, the Son of God, went into a house, just like you or I would and lovingly touched the hand of his friends mother-in-law. I have gone places and sensed God's compassion for people and lovingly touched them. I am compelled to allow the simplicity of this verse seep into my core. I am in Christ, He said 'go and make disciples for lo I am with you to the end of the age.' I need to bathe in this simplicity, allow it to pickle me so that I exude this simplicity. I am His hands and feet. This is where miracles are, healing lives here in the basics of compassion. I cannot stay only long enough to have my religious sentiment tickled and then walk away and not capture the divine. Jesus is here reaching out to me with a truth I n...
