Understanding

Help me understand the meaning of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders. Psalm 119:27 Do you ever puzzle about what the word of God is saying to you? Have you ever assumed you knew what the word of God was saying and rushed off, too soon, and ended up with egg on your face? When I truly 'get it' illumination floods my heart and I rejoice. When I 'get it' I will go for a walk and think about it. In my working life I am constantly solving problems and every now and then I am stumped, so I go for a walk, do something different and preferably something creative. Suddenly I get it. My spirit lifts and I can move on. I love to wait for illumination, this is where the life is. As I wait upon The Lord His word comes alive and I am renewed by the revelation. Read His word and look for what He is saying, that is where the life is! Amen!

A Personal God

I told You about my life, and You listened to me; teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:26 The beautiful thing about Jesus Christ is that He is a personal God and He listens. He invites is into a relationship with Him because He delights in us and wants to be involved with us. In any relationship there is a two way communication. We talk to Him and He talks to us. How does He talk to us? Primarily through His word made alive in our spirits but also our spirits echo with His loving whispers. Jesus Christ is not a harsh dictator, on the contrary He is a loving God. He came and lived like us and experienced all that we experience, the same fears and the same temptations. He knows what we face but He also has the answers as He worked through all of this and did it with faith in His Father. He did not sin in His walk so now He can show us the way to life, If we let Him. Invite him in today and watch your life transform. Amen!

You are So Good!

Your decrees are my delight and my counsellors. Psalm 119:24 We have a world hell bent on doing its own thing and rejecting anything that even hints of authority. However, the path of this 'individualism' is fraught with difficulty and is very lonely. The funny things is that as I yield to the Lordship of Christ I become a whole individual who's parameters are righteousness and integrity, full of fulfilment, no guilt, no shame, no scratching the eyes out of the competition, rather lovingly making room. Submission to godliness is good, so good. He is so good, His love is so, so satisfying, soooo good! Not my way but his way! Try it!

Longing

I am a stranger on earth; Do not hide Your commands from me. I am continually overcome with longing for Your judgements. Psalm 119:19,20 I love these verses. The author capture my dependence on The Lord. My prayer is: 'lord You must speak to me, stay close I depend on You.' I am overcome with longing for the mind of The Lord. His way is my delight. His thoughts are my desires. I have discovered there is no better place than in His courts, His presence. His blood is my salvation, my life. In Him I am complete, in Him I have direction, in Him I am blessed. Amen!

Treasure

I have treasured Your word in my heart, so that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11 Treasuring something will prevent sin. If you genuinely love someone you will not steal from them; commit adultery with them; hate them; abuse them; cheat them; dishonour them. Jesus told us to love The Lord our God with our whole heart and soul and mind and to love others as ourselves. If we do that, there is no room for self; no room for the fleshly lusts; no room for laziness; no room abuse. We then honour Him with our bodies. We are His temple and we care for it. We honour others as they are His as well. Get passionate folks! Let the fire burn! Amen!

All My Heart

Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; They follow His ways. Psalm 119:3 A sure deliverance from guilt is to live in Him and not just force oneself to abide by rules and regulations. The psalmist had the law, we have Christ. His blood was the perfect sacrifice, He fulfilled all the requirements of the law. How can I live in that victory? by faith in the Son of God who saved me. In Him I am complete, in Him I am righteous, in Him I am abundantly blessed, in Him I am healed of all infirmity, in Him I have a relationship with my Heavenly Father. Today I am called to do mighty deeds in His name. I have been given all the tools I need. Be blessed! Amen!

Shouts of Joy

There are great shouts of joy and victory in the tents if the righteous: 'the Lord's right hand performs valiantly! The Lord's right hand is raised. The Lord's right hand performs valiantly!'psalm 118:15,16 When you really get it that God is for you an let go of all your need to control then you will rejoice as you see your God do His stuff. You begin to know His presence and learn to bask in it. When all the controls have stopped then joy comes as you begin to see: GOD LOVES YOU! His love is so consistent and faithful there is no need for fear. As you allow him to rule you begin to see who you really are: a child of God destined for greatness and blessed abundantly. Allow to 'lift His right hand' in your world. Go on! And enjoy the ride!

Safe in Him

I called to The Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and put me in a spacious place. The Lord is for me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is my helper, therefore, I will look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in The Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in The Lord than to trust in nobles. All the nations surrounded me; In the name of Yahweh I destroyed them. They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; in the name of Yahweh I destroyed them. They surrounded me like bees; They were extinguished like a fire among the thorns; in the name of Yahweh I destroyed them. You pushed me hard to make me fall, but The Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:5-14 I, personally, do not know of many who hate me but I know plenty of evil spirits who do. They incite others to condemn me and stand against me, they are my true enemies. I trust The Lord to keep me and ride ove...

His Love Endures

For the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Hallelujah!Psalm 117:2 You and I get over people quite easily compared to The Lord. Now you might point out how things were in the Old Testament but you are forgetting something, there is a New Covenant. Jesus came, was the perfect sacrifice for all our stuff-ups. There is now nothing that will send him away. You might take yourself away but His love endures, waiting for your return. Looking and waiting! Remember the prodigal son? His father represents our father who is watching and waiting. Why don't you come on home? He's waiting!

Praise Him

Praise The Lord, all nations! Glorify Him, all peoples! For His faithful love to us is great; the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Hallalujah! Psalm 117 This looks like the smallest psalm yet so full of power! Praise releases power. As I praise Him for who He is and then begin to praise for what is yet to become, it begins to take shape. Live in praise as the alternative is hopelessness. The world without God is condemned and as the condemned sing the song of condemnation their shackles appear. Remember folks what we talk about becomes what is. If we bitch and complain that no one loves us, no one does. If we complain about our finances, we are poor. If we talk about possessions and the constant getting we build a warehouse that needs to be filled with junk we do not need. However the warehouse becomes a trap, steel doors go up without our noticing, a maze develops and there is no way of escape, except one. The one who spoke creation into being and who longs f...

My Guard

The Lord God is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate. The Lord guards the inexperienced. Psalm 116:5 I am so grateful that You guard me Lord, You keep my feet from falling. Inexperience frightens me because I know it may cause me to act foolishly. Yet in all that I attempt in Him, He covers me with His cloak and I am safe. Each challenge I face is accompanied by voices predicting failure but they lie. With my God I can do valiantly and I will ascend the hill of The Lord because He goes before me. Amen!

The Joy of Repentance

I was helpless, and He saved me, Return to your rest, oh my soul, for The Lord has been good to you. Psalm 116:7 I cannot save myself. However, occasionally I become enamoured with my own strength, when it is Him who strengthens me, and the next thing I know I am afraid. There is another way! Stay close, stay quiet and keep listening. This way you realise it is not you but the lover of your soul who keeps you. Ah but He made a way back! It is called repentance and the cleansing flow washes whiter than snow. No whips, no crawling on your knees. Price has already been paid. Turn around, come back and taste His love! Amen!

Salvation

How can I repay the Lord for all the good He has done for me? I will take the cup of salvation and call on the name of Yahweh. I will fulfil my vows to The Lord in the presence of the people. Psalm 116:12-14 Do you know how good The Lord had been to You? Are you still breathing? Has He drawn you to Him? Will eternity be a good place for you? Then you are blessed. Now get up and praise Him for He is so good. Throw off the tendrils of the lies of the enemy of your soul, start to confess the word of God over your life and not what the lies of the enemy are saying. Don't be his mouthpiece. God's word is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword piercing bone and marrow. Speak it out! Let it heal you! redeem you! change your world. Quit complaining and kill self pity. Strengthen those limbs that hang down and fight the good fight, the fight of faith. If God be for you, who, I ask who, again I ask who can be against you? Dare to believe there is power in the b...

Speak it Out

It is not the dead who praise the Lord, nor any of those descending into the silence of death. But we will praise The Lord, both now and forevermore. Psalm 115:17,18 Praising The Lord is something, we, the living must do. Praise produces power, prophesy releases the power into the invisible realm and creates our miracles. What prayer do you want to see answered? Start thanking The Lord as if it is already done. Boldly proclaim it over your circumstances. Speak to the dirt, the disappointment, the failure. Speak life into death. Speak the word of God, not your feelings. Stop recounting failure. Leave it in the dust, call forth the new! Amen!

Trust in The Lord

You who fear The Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and shield. Psalm 115:11 On the surface, it is logical that those who 'fear' The Lord would 'trust' The Lord, but the reality is that we don't, not really. What has become common practice is that we go to church, sing the songs, listen to the message and leave untouched and full of unbelief. Why? We have allowed the voices in the world, the gods of this age, to dictate. The gods around us say 'God is dead, He is impotent, experience is greater'. In other words 'what you see is what you get'. Believing the word if God stands at odds with this doctrine and we, God's people, have to pull down its altars. Our enemy the devil is a liar and a cheat. He is successfully stealing our truth, our life, our joy. To topple him we have to rise up and paint our world with the blood of Christ. He is our God, our deliverer, our truth. Laziness will defeat us. We are in a battle for our lives...

He Wins!

The sea looked and fled; The Jordan turned back. The mountains skipped like rams, The hills, like lambs. Why was it, sea that you fled? Jordan that you turned back? Mountains, that you skipped like rams? Hill, like lambs? Psalm 114:3-6 Let all who bray about God being dead hear and remember history records His might, there is coming a day when all knees will bow, under the earth and above the earth. Eternity is a long, long, long time and He wins. Where will you be? We all like to be on the winning side and just because that team does not promote as loudly as the lake of fire it is still real and the captain already played two hands and won both and prophesy predicts He wins the third an final hand. Foolishness repeats itself! Don't back the noisy looser as he makes a nasty master, he is no fun at all.

Glory Within

When Israel came out of Egypt- the house of Jacob from a people who spoke a foreign language- Judah became His sanctuary, Israel, His dominion. Psalm 114:1,2 When we come out of a darkened place, a place that does not recognise God we become God's sanctuary. Think of that the might God of the universe dwells within us, how precious is that. If I was suddenly taken out of my life into a royal household I would behave differently. When I was pregnant with my two children I behaved careful of the life within. How much more must I now walk careful of the glory within? As I yield to His Lordship I experience a beautiful relationship with a loving God. What joy! If you are yet to invite Him in, do so quickly and if you have done so yield to His loving ways, it is worth it. Amen!

He Gives

He gives a childless woman a household, making her the joyful mother of children. Psalm 113:9 I saw this with my own eyes. A couple who could not have children became foster parents and raises two boys. Our God takes the lonely and places them with family. If we are able to give up attitude, especially self-pity and trust Him it is amazing what He will do. A heart sold out for Him belongs to Him and he who trusts in Jesus finds answers. He delights to bless us. Amen!

Salvation

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the garbage pile in order to seat them with nobles- with the nobles of His people. Psalm 113:7,8 We are all His children and all in need of salvation. It is only as we dare to believe, giving our lives to Him and trust Him we are all seated, with Christ, in heavenly places. We are seated beside the heroes of faith, the great and the small. Rahab the Harlot is mentioned alongside the greats: Abraham, Moses, Abel, Enoch. There is no sin too great and no station in life too small, all are sinners saved by grace. We have to refuse the lie that we are not performing well enough. As we use our faith and trust Jesus, our savior, we are saved. He is our goodness, He is our success. He is the beginning and the end of our faith. Trust Him! Amen!

Unshakeable

(S)he will never be shaken. The righteous (wo)man will be remembered forever. (S)he will not fear bad news; his/her heart is confident, trusting in The Lord. Psalm 112:6,7 What an interesting day. This morning my head hurt and my stomach was upset but I said, 'but what if God is my healer!' I went to church ready to praise and everyone who asked me how I was I told 'well thank you'. The woman who spoke at communion gave a testimony as to how she had studied faith and healing under Kenneth Haigan and how he had read the scripture in Isaiah 53:5 and took it for himself when he was crippled with polio and got up an walked. This woman decided to apply the blood of Christ to her heart and has not been sick for 15 years. I knew I was on track. As I left church today I was free of illness. Amen! I went back tonight and was tempted to disregard two old preachers but didn't and was blessed. You might say that I had a blessed day. Amen! You might say I have a ...

Is it Fair?

Good will come to a (wo)man who lends generously and conducts his(her) business fairly. (S)he will never be shaken. Psalm 112:5,6 Ever been tempted to withhold? Not good is it? If ever I withhold even for a moment I am so miserable. I know I meant to be a conduit for God's grace and abundance to others. Recently I had someone pay me direct instead of through my employer. I could not rest until it was repaid and billed correctly even though I needed the money. I would rather be clean than have unjust gain. The above scripture tells me that I will be blessed as I continually make the right choices. My God's delight is more important to me than anything else. He is good and I can trust Him. Amen!

Praise Him!

Hallelujah! I will praise The Lord with all my heart in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. Psalm 111:1 Tomorrow is Sunday and I will be in church worshipping my God with all my heart. He is worthy! Today I have been learning to sit in heavenly places in regard to my physical being. All sorts of of pain and disease has come to plague me. I find myself whispering, ' but what if I am healed!' Daring to believe in a healing God instead of running in fear to the doctor. This is a challenge but I remind myself how my God has been there in all other areas of my life, why not this. The feeling of sickness is just as real as the fear of financial ruin, it is a feeling but it is not the 'Word of God! This world is waiting for the sons and daughters of God to walk in the reality of who we are. Go guys! Amen!

Wisdom and Insight

The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom, all who follow His instruction have good insight. Psalm 111:10 This verse tells me that unless I respect The Lord I have nothing to do with wisdom. Wisdom belongs to The Lord. It is His commodity, it is sourced in Him. So the fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom. How does it grow? The book of proverbs tells me wisdom is sought with an intense desire, it does not come to the lazy. Therefore if I want wisdom to grow I have to seek it. The above scripture tells me that it begins with The Lord, therefore should I not seek him? Proverbs also tells me that it was with God when the world was created. Sounds like it is intimate with The Lord. Therefore if I want wisdom I must want The Lord. Insight comes from following instruction (obedience). Insight is not available for the self willed and strong headed. Proverbs calls such people fools. It is foolish to deny The Lord. He is God! He made you!

Enemies

Rule over your surrounding enemies. Psalm 110:2b If we could see into the spirit realm we would see our enemies. As Christians we are to rule and reign with Him, seated in heavenly places. Therefore to rule over our surrounding enemies. If our enemy can make us feel fear, lust, anger, pride he is hooking us and our confession seals us. Whereas the word of God speaks above the mess and calls to us, 'you are made in the image of God'; 'no weapon formed against you shall prosper'. What will I say? How I feel or prophesy into the spirit world?

The Priestly King

This is the declaration of The Lord to my Lord:? ' sit at my right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool. Psalm 110:1 I know this refers to Christ and could even have been written to king David but I claim it as mine. As a Christian I am beckoned to be seated in heavenly places with my saviour, Christ. If I am seated in heavenly places then I refrain from trying to deal with my enemies with natural means, rather using my faith in the finished work of the cross. Christ laboured and then sat down. His blood carries my life, my health, my future. All I need to do is trust and obey. Being a Christian in name only is not enough I must walk the plan. He is able to go before me, make my paths straight. I am wanting to see what God will do with a life wholly submitted to Him. I want to see God's glory! Amen! I will minister to Him and allow Him to be God!

Goodness of Your Love

But You, Yahweh my Lord, deal kindly with me because of Your name; deliver me because of the goodness of Your faithful love. Psalm 109:21 God is good to me because He is good and I trust Him to be true to His name. My own goodness does not come into it. I can rest secure in the knowledge that I do not have to earn His love; His protection; His grace. All I have to do is trust and rest. Goodness comes out because He is inside, and I want His goodness as mine, not so I can boast but so I can rest in Him. Trying to be good enough is frustrating and impossible. However, trusting His love for me is very possible and a joy! He has done it all. Why do I need to grown carrots when my father grows them and all I need to do is trust in His ability to grow them? It is important that I know my place, that of a loved and cherished daughter. I delight in giving to my grandchildren. I do not expect them to do what I do. I do expect them to obey and trust me to be me. Think you can do ...

Accusation

They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause. In return for my love they accuse me, but i continue to pray. Psalm 109:3,4 Ever felt like this? I have? I have felt razor sharp swords drawn against me. The spirit of condemnation is a nasty spirit. I know I am not alone. We have an enemy who comes to rob, kill and destroy and he delights in accusing us. David may have felt alone, but he was not. A savior would come from his loins who would face a nasty enemy on our behalf. When I am being accused my God makes a way for me. I can run to Him. 'No weapon formed against me shall prosper'. Amen!

With All That I Am!

My heart is confident, God; I will sing; I will sing praises with my whole being. Psalm 108:1 What does singing praises with my whole being look like? Arms outstretched, full voice, total abandon? Something like that! I've seen a lot of this at football matches in Australia. What would make me do this in church? Good worship and a heart to love my God passionately. Today I telephoned my son and heard the voice of one of my grandsons in the background, it affected me with gay abandon. 'Hello Archie!' I cooed. I forgot about my conversation with my son. When we give our heart, all of it, to the worship of our God we experience His presence and we are caught up with Him. Free worship washes our spirits, frees us, lifts us, vitalises us, releases us. Need a holiday? spend time in worship and experience the river of God.amen!

Hearing

God you do not march out with our armies, give us aid against our foes, for human help is worthless. Psalm 109: 11,12 What a horrible experience? To not have God go before you would be devastating. Scripture tells us: 'if God be for me, who can be against me?' Knowing a project or action us God-ordained is tantamount. When He is not around or He does not order a step then we will melt. Staying close ensures we hear. However, even then it is as if God is in hiding. He does this to test us. Do we trust and obey?

Following

He led them by a right path to a city where they could live. Psalm 107:7 Being led and following are two distinct but related things. As I yield to the Lord the reins He is able to lead. Being able to follow through the fire, across the stormy seas takes me holding onto my emotions and willing to obediently follow. As I learn to wait for Him, yield to Him peace fills my heart and I sense His presence more and more. Today I saw Him in His bridal clothes. I have long had a vision of Him as the groom and He is royally dressed. Today as I drove back to Sydney I was able to spend time with Him, seven hours in fact. I sensed His enjoyment, I must say I enjoyed it as well. I choose Him first before anything else. He is far purer, more satisfying than any human and yet I enjoy spending time with them as well, at times. As I submit all areas of my life to Him He grows in intensity, so good! Following carries a promise: 'a city where I can dwell.' Sounds good!

Give Thanks!

Give thanks to The Lord for He is good, His faithful love endures forever. Let the redeemed if the Lord say so.... Psalm 106:1,2 I don't hear a lot of thanksgiving of late. I hear a lot of complaining! Then the complainants wonder why things don't change, there is a need for the God Almighty. If I do not speak the God Almighty into my circumstances then I have wet wood and no flame, and it is raining. If I constantly speak defeat and how I feel I' m making circumstance and my feelings God! There is only one God and I am my circumstances are not Him. Release the Mighty God into your world, release Him to be great by calling that which is not, as is. Thank him for the results before you get them. Allow the blood of Christ to be great in you. Get up lazy bones and strengthen the limbs that hang down. Edifying yourself by praying in the spirit. Release Him today! Amen!

Justice and Righteousness

How happy are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times. Psalm 106:3 Want to know how to be happy? The above verse tells you: 'uphold justice and practice righteousness at all times.' Jesus did just this! He came to seek and save the lost; give the oil of joy instead of mourning; set the captives free; preach good news to the poor; heal the brokenhearted. Scripture refers to Him as 'righteous one'. He was just. He said He did not come to judge. His spirit lives in me. I can be a vessel of righteousness, I can uphold justice. Amen!

Testing of Faith

He had sent a man ahead of them- Joseph who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with shackles; his neck was put in an iron collar. Until the time of his prediction came true, the word of The Lord tested him. Psalm 105:17-19 Joseph was given a dream and for that was sold I into slavery. Yet worse was to come, someone wanted him to be an adulterer and he refused and went to jail. In jail he only did good but those he helped forgot him when they were free. Do you think Joseph had a good excuse to have a bad attitude? If anyone did, Joseph did. Yet he kept it sweet! What did the end of his life look like? Prime minister under Pharaoh. So what is the message? Keep it sweet, forgive those who persecute you, the end is yet to come! Joseph was tested and won the prize. Keep going!

His Strength

Search for The Lord and for His strength; seek His face always. Psalm 105:4 There is only one way, His way; one power, His power. Abraham and Sarah decided to help God and produced a race of people who would persecute his household forever. God works with the household of faith and faith is directed by the one who gave it breath. There is no substitute for faith that is pure and from Him. It is faith that creates the future, the life giving spirit. There is only one solution, wait for The Lord and allow Him to be God, and be patient. As I determine to seek His face, always, then I am safe and will not be disappointed. Amen!

My All?

May my meditation be pleasing to Him; I will rejoice in The Lord. Psalm 104:34 Being a Christian, going to church, tithing, going to a small group are all good but really what do I think about? Am I consumed with fear? Lust? Envy? Anger? Offense? Or do I make my all submit to His word? What really matters? My pleasure or His? My will or His? When I pray: may your kingdom come your will be done? Am I serious? Who am I to please? How do I rejoice in Him?

He Wraps Himself in Light

He wraps Himself in light as if it were a robe, spreading out the sky like a canopy, laying the beams of His palace on the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants. Psalm 104:2-4 Rainbows have ever been a fascination to mankind. The psalmist above sees the rings of the rainbows as God's palace beams. As a child I had a vivid imagination: water; earth and sky held deep rooms of imagination for me. When in Brisbane recently I was reminded if how I loved to go swimming in the town, pool as a child, and dive down looking in wonder at the play of light on bubbles under the water. I would pretend I was a mermaid. I watch my granddaughter Chloe go through the same experience. Children are best able to function with fascination, their eyes open wide in wonder. At times I have a glimpse of this wonder: when I see a baby; a small animal just born; a countryside fresh after the rain; a beautiful sunris...

Forever He is Faithful

But from eternity to eternity the Lord's faithful love is toward those who fear Him, and His righteousness toward the grandchildren of those who keep His covenant, who remember to observe His precepts. Psalm 103:17,18 What does this scripture tell me? -God is faithful to those who respect Him (fear Him) -His righteousness is towards my grandchildren, because I keep His covenant I am blessed to know His eye is upon my world, my grandchildren. I pray that they will have a heart to follow Him, all of their days. I now know He will follow them, all of their days. I am blessed! Amen!

Loneliness

I am like a desert owl, like an owl out among the ruins. I stay awake, I am like a solitary bird on a roof. Psalm 102:6,7 Love the word pictures. Loneliness and isolation are common themes in psalms. Both of these are heavy burdens and a test of strong character. We might be tempted to get on the telephone, go out to a club or pub, watch a lot of TV, just to feel connected, but loneliness follows us. The best way for me to deal with this pest is to face it, walk through it to the big comfortable lounge room on the other side where someone is waiting. This someone knows me well and shows me myself, the one He sees, not the one that plagues me. Different people! Loneliness is the only way to pass over to this place. There is no way to avoid the pain and fear of the passage. For when you get there it is all different. There I discover how much I am loved and a little I the plans he has for me. It is there I discover how complete I am in Him. It is worth the trip, dare t...

Newly Created

This will be written for a later generation, and a newly created people will praise The Lord. Psalm 102:18 This psalm is for the desperate. It pours out all the feelings of one going through the 'valley of the shadow of death' but comes out through praise. Praise sets captives free, releases God's power to save, heal, restore. Start praising! Start small and your spirit will swell within you. Amen! We are the 'newly created people', read and understand.

Integrity in my House

I will live with a heart of integrity in my house. I will not set anything worthless before my eyes. Psalm 101:2,3 Have you ever heard the term: 'Sunday Christian'. It is a derogatory term used to describe a modern day Pharisee. Someone who isn't himself on Sundays. David is saying that he will have integrity in his house. In other words, he will behave the same all the time, endeavoring to follow God's ways. Saying he would 'not set anything worthless before his eyes' makes me wonder what he would do with TV, magazines, books, movies. David had long ago decided he would follow The Lord and allow Him lordship in his life. David had the Lord's heart. How about you?

Faithful Love and Justice

I will sing of faithful love and justice; I will sing praise to You, Lord. I will pay attention to the way of integrity. When will You come to me? Psalm 101:1,2 David is back. His passion for God and right living is infectious. David endeavored to order his paths aright. The Lord had promised to not turn away from these who ordered his paths aright. What does that mean? No short cuts, no compromise. David was king here and saw his responsibilities to his people as that of faithful love and justice. Good king! Each of us has a part to play in our own world where someone has to interact with us. Whatever do and say affects someone, even if it is the checkout Chickie. What message are we giving? Our God has given us the tools to deal with others with faithful love and justice. If His spirit lives in me then it is He who must live through me and He does not abuse anyone!

Acknowledge Him

Acknowledge that Yahweh is God. He made us, and we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:3 The sky is blue; the sea is blue; trees grow skyward; air consists of :oxygen, nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide. Why argue that the creator who made all this does not exist? Why miss out on the best experience? A relationship that defies all others awaits you! What's more, we are His. We might behave like silly sheep but we are His silly sheep. He has a name and He is a great and personable God! Amen!

Triumphant Praise

Shout triumphantly to the Lord all the earth. Serve The Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:1,2 This psalm is commanding me to do something I am not feeling, shout triumphantly. It is requiring me to shake something off. I may not be triumphant or feel that way but He is. It I Him I am commanded to praise. Perhaps I can start in the little things. Thank You Lord for You have kept me well and continue to do so. Praise you Lord that 'no weapon formed against me shall prosper.' Than You 'if God be for me who can be against me', thank You that 'I am blessed and highly favored of the Lord'. Thank You that You go before me, thank You that you are my rock, my shield, my shelter, my Lord, my God. Thank You that 'me who You for knew You also predestined', thank You that I am the 'apple of Your eye', thank You that the hairs on my head are numbered, thank You that You are my counsellor, my comfort, my friend and love...

Justice and Fairness

The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness. Psalm 99:4 Every child likes to tell you: 'that's not fair!' They have an inbuilt sense of what is right and wrong. However, this sense is often peppered with a large dose of selfishness. Cain had such a problem. God had favored Abel's sacrifice over his. His sense of justice caused him to become so angry that he killed his brother. Often in our own lives we cannot see the truth, we can only see our version and therefore are offended when what we consider just and right does not come to pass. I endeavor to trust that even the rejections are a tool in Gods hand. I know I am his delight. Therefore I can trust Him to use a tool the rejection or offense of others that the enemy fashioned to bring me down, to merely steer my onto the right path. If I am always expecting Gods blessing then I can also trust Him for what He considers a blessing, instead of telling Him what it should be. Amen!

The Lord Reigns

The Lord reigns! Let the people tremble. He is enthroned above the cherubim. Let the earth quake. Psalm 99:1 The ark of the covenant was considered the throne of the invisible God. I remember the time that King David, the man who had a special relationship with The Lord, endeavored to bring the ark home, on a cart, and as a result a man died. David was devastated. He did not know why a man died until he investigated the proper procedure for transporting the ark, that being on the shoulders of the priests. Into such a word of rigorous law came Jesus. He did not brandish a sword, fire did not pour forth from his mouth. His first message, spoken at church was to read scripture, about Him and His coming from the book of Isaiah, chapter 61:1,2 He came to open blind eyes, set captives free, to bring good news to the poor, freedom to the captives and oppressed. Are you bound to something you really don't like? Jesus can set you free, are you oppressed by depression today? Jes...

Joy is on the Horizon

Light dawns for the righteous, gladness for the upright in heart. Psalm 97:11 You who seek The Lord, daylight is coming and with it a time of rejoicing. When we seek The Lord, He is found by us. Although all seem dark, perhaps because of a wrong expectation, He is working all things out for our good, as we wait on Him. So often we can think He has failed, because we are looking in the wrong direction for the answer. He knows what is best for us and we can trust Him to bring the best to pass. I find great joy as I wait on Him for the provision. He is constantly surprising me.

Bless Him

Sing a new song to The Lord Psalm 98:1 What song do you have in your heart? Today is His day? Are you ready to sing to Him? Do you have a new song? When the children of Israel came out of Egypt and crossed the Red Sea, Miriam (Moses' sister) led the people jn a new song. What is God doing in your life? If you can't see anything sing prophetically, sing it into being, sing a creative song. Let us not complain or sing a country and western song where we are lost and forlorn but sing about the goodness of our God, inspire Him to come with His glory and majesty. Blessed be the name of The Lord! Amen!

Righteousness and Justice

....righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Psalm 97:2b When you build a building you must put down the correct foundation or the building will fall down. We all know this! We also know the times we have tried to take shortcuts and received a less than result. However, the Lord's throne, which represents authority has to be constructed on the right foundation and we see here the foundations are righteousness and justice. Would this be a good pattern to follow? Yes! If I am to have authority as a leader then my position must be based on righteousness and justice. How good is our God to not beat us into submitting to corrupt authority? Children see through corrupt lordship and the modern youngsters challenge it. We don't have to challenge the Lord because His motive is pure and totally reliable. I am safe with Him! Amen!

His Kingdom Come!

The heavens proclaim His righteousness, all the peoples see His glory. All worshippers if images are put to shame; who make their boast in worthless idols; worship Him all you gods. Psalm 97:6,7 Having been away know holidays it has come home to me the true decadence of our culture. I have spent much time praying about what I see. Idolatry us alive and well. What can I do about it? I can pray that there is awareness of sin, that there is awareness if need of repentance, that desire for God is in the land. Further I can speak out what is yet to be as though it is. I can be a part of the answer. Thank You Lord that the is a turning back to You. Thank You Lord that the hearts if the people melt within them. Thank You Lord that You and all Your ways are greater. Amen! I cannot complain about the sin but command righteousness. Amen!

Greater than Any Other

For great is The Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared, above all gods. Psalm 96:4 Media gives us plenty to fear, all bad. Yet tries to tell us God does not exist and therefore misses the One who is greater than ALL gods. He is greater than all forms of wickedness, better than budahs, the (created) universe, better than fairies, angels and any created thing. My holiday away has come to an end and I am traveling home tomorrow. Twice this week I went to the movies. We like to be shocked, thrilled and fed huge doses of make believe yet here is One who surpasses all, He is fairer, kinder, more loving, greater than anything I could wish for and after all has been said and done, I pick Him. Eternity is coming!

I will praise You

Oh, sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, and bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples! Psalm 96:1-3 Irregardless of my circumstances, what appears to have authority, I will praise the Lord for His word to me. I say: 'may Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.' Lord when the enemy comes in like a flood Your word says You will raise up a standard against Him. Thank You Lord! Lord I ask for ears to hear and hearts to understand. Amen! You are great, your word is great! Your power is great to save, Your word is true. Amen!

Creation

In His hands are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry lands. Psalm 95:4,5 I just finished 'The Magician's Nephew' by C S Lewis. This was the first book in his series about the land of Narnia. In this book Aslan the lion, a type of Christ, sings and creation busts forth from an unformed land, the song was a song of life. I like this concept because Aslan is portrayed as a strong, loving leader, all seeing and totally wise. As I have said before, he represents Christ. Today I took grandchildren on a ferry ride to Colliemudlo island. A beautiful day on the water, beautiful weather and all created for us. All creation came from Him, and is held together by Him. The book I mentioned gives a new perspective to creation and the creator.

Rest

For forty years I loathed that generation and said, 'they are a people who go astray in their hearts, and they have not know my ways.' 'therefore I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter my rest.' psalm 95:10,11 In the Old Testament, God's people showed how they had a heart for their own pleasure and fleshly appetites. Without a savior they were doomed. In the New Testament we are given a way, Christ! We are now able to make a choice: Christ and His sacrificial redemption or or our own efforts or non-efforts. What is the rest God is speaking about? Is it a holiday, time out or is there something more? In Hebrews chapters 3 and 4 the author discusses this rest and the importance of not missing it. The rest that we can enter is a rest from labour. It sounds like a holiday but it is more, a state of being. As I wait on Him, I can rest in His promises, his word, His power that is mighty to save. I cannot save my family and friends, He is their savi...

My Reward

If the Lord would not have been my help, My soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. Psalm 94:17 What is the land of silence? Currently I am reading 'The Magician's Nephew' by C S Lewis. In it Dickory and Polly end up in such a land. It is the land between lands. Yet I believe the psalmist is referring to death. I am sure every one of us wishes for a land of silence at times. Today, I myself was desiring such a place. Am babysitting again and know that I gave up a trip to Tuscany for this. I could be painting Florence today. Anyway back to the topic. Land of silence. Eternity awaits us all and eternity is ETERNITY (forever). Where do I want to be? Beside the One I love! To be far from the Lord of glory does not bear imagining. The Lord has been my help and my great reward, I am blessed! He is my prize!

Discipline

Blessed is the man you discipline, oh Lord; And whom You teach out of Your law, To give him rest from the days of trouble, Until a pit is dug for the wicked. Psalm 94:12,13 Discipline is not just commands and instruction. A lot of people, when they read the above passage would think 10 commandments style stuff, ground opening and swallowing people whole or harsh discipline. Yesterday I babysat my grandchildren for the day. I was aware that I must bring discipline at times and there was an instance. I thought my problem would come from the youngest but the opposite transpired. As I have witnessed how the parents discipline and the effect this has I knew as a grandparent what I must do. I knew I could not force the discipline as my granddaughter is too big to carry, however I calmly carried out a discipline that was effective. I also spoke to her heart about who she really was and what would happen to her, the girl inside, if she stayed like she was in unrepentance (I did no...

Holy God!

Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits Your house, oh Lord, forever more. Psalm 93:5 There is only One who is totally trustworthy, no matter how good our intentions we will all fail. I am so glad He goes before me, all I have to do is follow. Yes! He makes a way. How good is our God? How great? He is holy, set apart, righteous just for us. He cannot lie or cheat. His 'house is holy'. Therefore when I invite Him in He is a good tennant. No mess, no loud parties, no unpaid bills, He is totally good. Give Him a try today!

The Lord Reigns

The Lord reigns; He is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; He has put on strength as His belt. Psalm 93:1 The Lord knows His role and does it well. Do we know our roles? Are we parents? Do we find out how to do it best? Are we grandparents? Do we do that well? Being a parent is not just having children, it is giving our lives to raise the best that we can possibly do. If we have more than one do we favor one over the other and thus spoiling them? If we spoil or favor one the other child resents the first and grows up with a lack of respect for the parent. Our God does not spoil and treats us all equally. Year those who dig into His heart find it. Even so our discipline is consistent and right, there are no shortcuts with Him, and I am grateful. Because He is consistent and right I feel safe and know His strength and it protects me. When earthly parents fail I know there is a house where I belong and all is right and good. I am so grateful that I belong to the Lord, that ...

Flourishing

The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Psalm 92:12-15 Well now! I am not afraid to be called a sap, this means I am staying young and full of life. Mind you today I am glad to see my bed. My grandchildren sure know how to keep me busy. Today we went swimming. I Haven't swum underwater like I did today, for quite a while. Chloe had me doing hand-stands, tumbles, racing up and down the pool. After lunch we went to the movies, then shopping and then I was ready for bed, at 5pm. No such luck, off for a walk, prepare dinner, play games and now it is my time and although I have bought a new book to read, bed sounds very good. Yet my God is going before me. No longer am I slow on the uptake, I am no fool...

He is Working

For You oh Lord have made me glad by Your work; at the work of Your hands I sing for joy. How great are Your works oh Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! Psalm 92:4,5 God's work is worth praising, and He is working! What is His work? He is ever reaching out calling sons and daughters back to Him. He is ever sowing goodness, mercy, kindness, grace, forgiveness. He is so faithful! What is He doing in my life? Teaching me His ways, making me more like Him, making me whole. I am grateful He is God! Amen!
